EQ to help brightness of the 2.3's?

I've been mainly using my 2.3's in a HT setup and have been listening to more 2 channel music recently. For HT, I'm satisifed with what I'm hearing, but for stereo music the speakers seem too bright. I don't have the cash to spend on replacing the (6) tweeters, so I was wondering if hooking up an EQ (which I already have) might help tone down the brightness?

So, how should I hook it up to my Denon AVR-1905? Its a 2 channel EQ and I'm really only concerned with front l/r.

What would be accomplished by buying just two replacement tweeters, and placing one into each speaker's uppermost tweeter bay? Then buying the other four, perhaps two at a time, at your leisure. Good idea? Bad idea?

i'm with the others.. replacing the tweeters will help. i'd do two at a time.. even it takes you a while to replace them all. it will help tame that nasty brightness better than an eq.

what interconnects are you using? that will make a difference too..

I'm not totally opposed to doing that, but I have an EQ that I figured I'd try first, and heck, its a free solution (if I can figure out how to get it hooked up).

If that doesn't work out, I may take your advice and do them 1 pair at a time.

It's been a long time since I hooked up an EQ, but I think the EQ is installed between your source (CDP or DVD) and the receiver. You may find the harshness comes from around the 13KHz range, tweek that down about a couple of dBs to suit your taste.
