I really want to use the Monitor Series for my new home theater, but can't figure out why Polk decided to use a rear port on a center(CS2). I plan to house the center in a cabinet opening beneath the 61" DLP. How critical is the open volume behind the speaker because of the rear port? It will be in free-air and open straight through the cabinet. Should I line the cabinet opening w/ coarse felt? Am I making too much of a deal about this? I considered going to the RTi's to eliminate the rear port problem, but I like the Monitor's looks better. M60 fronts, CS2 center, M40 rears(on stands), and SVS PB12NSD sub. Thanks for any opinions.

I accually found my older CS1 sound quality was a bit "fuller" in the bookshelf. The port in the back resinated in the bookshelf and back toword the listener. Which, to me, allowed more depth to the speaker. My CS1, IMO, is a slightly bright speaker, with it being in a bookshelf helped out alot.

Thanks for the input. I've decided to go with the RTi8's, CSi5, FXi3, and the SVS-12NSD. I'll just have to get over the look of the RTs! I think tower speakers should look like the World Trade Center, not the Space Needle!
Happy New Year!

That's going to be about a perfect HT setup for most rooms. Good choice.

No doubt, that's going to be a banger. It certainly should be sounding great when everything is done and in love.

What are you going to be driving the speaks with?

I'll try my Denon 1801. If I'm not happy, I'll go with a 2807. I'm about a month away from completion of the theater (final lighting installs, furniture, etc), and am anxious to put everything together.
