Well back at Polkfest I picked up a AR turntable from Troy and brought it home but I needed a phono pre. After about 2 weeks when I had a little extra cash I went and bought a Plye pre and hooked it up. It sounded ok but it was missing somthing. I knew that i had to upgrade but the funds were holding me back. Well thanks to my boy Lou (ohskigod) for christmas I received a NAD PP2 pre from him as a present. I hooked it up today and threw on some Dire Straits Brothers in Arms. Man I was floored at the sound I was now getting. Then I threw on the Steve Miller Band Greatest Hits 1974-78. Man did I have a big smile on my face. Well now im hooked on vinyl! I have to start getting some more records and invest in a vinyl cleaner. Now im looking foward to trying out Joe's record clamp. Just wanted to share my happiness. Happy New Year to all of my fellow Polkies.

Awesome, man, awesome.
In the meantime, at LEAST pick up a good LP brush. The Hunt brush is a good one.

yep, I was pretty surprised by the sound my damn self. leans strong on the warm side, which is just how I like it.
yeah, he needs an LP brush for sure. Perhaps Dave and I should go halfsies on a good vacuum record cleaner, who knows. I do know that for once, dave has a better component than I do. I would say that AR walks frikkin circles aroung my BSR.
Dave, thats an Ortofan cartridge I think, dont know the model though.

I like mine. I put a Sure V15 type III on it. Pretty cool, but I can't get the cart any more if it goes. I have to check into stylii.

Dave,
The cartridge on the AR is an Ortofon OM-10. A good entry level cartridge.
The Shure cart antony has is OOP, however, there are enough replacement stylii floating around that if need be, you could get one.
