Man that new Ultra driver looks absolutely...beast.

Ron looks like he goes hunting on the weekend ;) (Im from the South, I can make fun of my redneck brethren... haha)

Anyways... very nice change to the drivers from what I can see - Id like to hear em.

I've been doing lots of research on subwoofer's as of late, and from what i read on AVS forums is that any current owner will be given the opportunity to purchase the new driver at COST!!!!

And people who did that in the past, when they last upgraded their woofers made a good chunk of change by selling their older woofers on ebay.

The new enclosures and amps are bigger on the new models, so I dont know if you would be able to upgrade to the new driver.

Here is a pdf file from SVS's news site on the new Ultra's. http://www.svsound.com/CES2007/SVS_PB_PCUltra13SubsSheet.pdf

Since the cylinders & box's have the same internal volume im going to assume they are bigger than the old models since the new cylinder is 46" tall rather than the 39" like the last model.

It can be, but im sure like the current ones that it would be underported with only one port open & that robust of a driver. Im sure most people would block 1 port & it dig down plenty low in room for them.

OMG, SVS is going insane with their subs. I can't imagine what the Ultra 2 box sub is going to be like with the new driver. Seriously, can any company out there even get close to matching their performance/price?

Currently the protos are laying down numbers equal to about 2.5 of the existing Ultra/2's........it took a 5000 watt Crown Macro to make it break a sweat.

I bought a PC-Ultra when they were introduced...I have been thinking about buying another one to acompany it.

I might just sell the Ultra I have now and get the newer version...950 watt amp...awesome:D

What about the sonic characteristics??

I am not interested in how loud something gets. I am looking to further refine my system's overall performance. I have two PCUs now (two channel stereo) and wonder if the new drivers improve on the current.

Anyone know what the new built in "room compensation control" is?

I also wonder what the "sealed user configurations" will do for the sonic performance.

Looks like another upgrade may be instore.

The amp for the new Ultra's will be 750 watts.

From the HomeTheaterSpot

"The news is sure to shake things up out in music and movie audio, that I can promise. Like I said, hiring Ed Mullen will be seen as an (important) ripple in the pond that's going to have some seriousuly cool products start to splash down in 2007.
