Im currently running a 400.4 to mmc6500 and feel the need for a sub.
I was looking at the 10" Alpine type r or the sr104 but I feel that it will be underpowered by the 300.2. Or if you have any other suggestions for a musical sub that would be great. I dont care about SPL at all.
Im limited in room (Eclipse hachback) so a 10" sub in a sealed enclosure is my best bet.

image dynamics IDQ 10" would be a great choice

I second the IDQ. I have the 12" DVC version.

Wouldnt the 300.2 be too much amp for the 10" IDQ? I would hate to have that power go to waste. :)

I didnt realize this but I am using a .65cu sealed qlogic box which has interchangeable baffles so I can actually use a 12" if I want.
Should I go 12" instead or will the enclosure be too small?

Depends on the 12. It would be too small for the Image Dynamics 12...but would work great with their 10. I would also look at the Polk SR series 10"

The Image Dynamics sub would be a good route to take. The Arc Audio ARC10 would also be a good choice, it is known as a very musical sub. Image Dynamics makes these subs for Arc. Another nice choice would be the Soundsplinter RL-i10. This sub can play clean bass, and is no slouch in the output department.
I think the .65 cubic foot enclosure would be too small for a 12" sub to sound good in. After taking into account the driver's displacement you would be left with a tiny box. I would stick witht the 10" sub if you intend to use that box.
As for the SR sub, that amp will probably not bring it to it's full potential. It would however be a very nice match for those other subs that were mentioned.

MM2104
A 300.2 would be more power than its rated to handle but if you use the gains and volume control wisely, you would be fine.
You sure you couldnt fit a 12? A MM2124 and 300.2 would be a great combination!

I can fit a 12" with a new baffle but it would still be .65cu. If you have seen the trunk of a '99 eclipse you would see that space is at a premium and Im already cringing at the space left after I put the box in for a test fit.
I new box for a 12" would mean 1cu ft or so? ....which would mean even less space!

I honestly think you should stick with a ten. .65 CF is just kinda small for a 12, and you wouldn't get the most out of a 12" sub.
You can make a lot of bass with a quality 10".

Totally agree....
My friend is running a Soundsplinter RL-i8 (8" sub) in his Eclipse's trunk and he is very happy with it. People always laugh in disbelief when he pops open his trunk to show them his sub. I believe he has it in a .35 cubic foot box and is running an Alpine MRD-M301 with it.

Almost makes me wonder if I should attempt to fit a pair of 8's where the 6x9s used to be. I wouldnt lose any trunk space.
