Dear Polksters,

I’ve been buying Polk speakers for about 8 or 9 years now and have loved every pair. I’ve recently bought a set of LSi 9’s and was geared up to buy a great amplifier to complement them. Things have changed unfortunately, and the money that was to be used for the receiver has gone to a local hospital.

As a result I’m looking to fill the gap for the next 6 months with a cheap stereo amp or receiver. My budget is small, only $150, but will to go up to $200 if justifiable. I’m hoping you guys can help me out. I have no problem buying used.

This will mainly be used for TV/movies, but also some music DVDs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

(Should this be in the Electronics section? Sorry If it should.)

Clarify please....are you looking for a stand alone 2 channel amp or a receiver?

A receiver is actually what I need.

They are currently running on a Technics SX-GX710, a very respectable receiver 15 years ago. Though this is not an option because it is the receiver to power the RTi6's for my computer. I need a different receiver, I doubt I can find one that nearly as good as the Technics for $150-$200, for a different room.

Look at the HK 3480 or Denon DRA-685 i believe they are around 100WPC and can be had for less than $200

Thanks, those both look like good choices.
