Hey guys
I have my preamp triggering my Monster HTS2600 when I turn it off I notice a pop that emits from the drivers, is this dangerous? and is it avoidable somehow? Thanks

Ive tested it a bit and its my sub that is producing the sound, I use an outboard sub amp, I guess I'll try to turn it off before I shut the rest of the system off.

Might be normal; make sure you turn off the amp first, then once capacitors have discharged, turn the pre off. For turning on, first the pre, wait 30 seconds, then the amp.

if your amps are direct coupled you will hear a pop when the caps discharge mine dues it the olny way past it is to leave the amp on or turn it off befor the pre so it will drain the caps slowley

Have had this issue with my Adcom Amps forever when in Mono. Does not seem to have any effect on the speakers themselves. I never have gotten used to it though

I never turn my amps off. I believe keeping them on , keeps them warm so moister does not build up. My Hafler has a similar problem, but its been on for the past 2 years, never moved, never turned off.

I guess if it was a huge amp , I would turn it off to conserve electricity. But my Hafler and Pioneer amps remain always on.

My amp sends a pop to all the speakers when it is turned off. I checked it with an SPL meter and the pop was below 1 watt output. (based on the SPL - don't remember it now)

It does sound bad, but has never hurt anything. Don't worry about it. (It never made any difference if I shut off my amp first, last or middle - it always send the pop to the speakers)

Thanks for the responses, yea its been doing it for awhile I just got a little more worried once I added the 826v's to the system but now I know its only my outboard sub amp doing it.

my system does the same thing. I guess it is something with the Adcoms. It never has hurt anything though, and I have gotten use to it.

I noticed that with my Carver M-1.0t. Just need to turn the amp off first and wait for discharge, as others have mentioned.

One other thing is I'm getting a hum out of the speakers. With music off and just the pre and amp on, there is a constant hum that gets louder when the volume is turned off.

Might need some wire management and/or deox the contacts.

Okay, seems I have a ground loop issue from doing a few searches.

good luck with your popping sound, I've got cheater plugs to buy.

Andy...mine does it too. There's supposed to be a fix for it but I need to do a little more research on it and see what it entails.

Man, Dream Theater sure sounds good on the Carver/Polk setup! Sorry...had to say that since I was jammin' on that...lol.
