Official Dates of the Fest are October 5-7, 2007

I am very excited about hosting this 07 event. I am anticipating sometime around the Traditional October Polkfest days we have been accustomed to. So as time gets a bit closer of course more information will be forthcoming.

The fest will be in Brunswick Ga., exit 36B off of I-95, zip is 31523 for those interested in mapping a route. You can e-mail me through the club e-mail icon for more detailed info if you need it. Airports are in Jacksonville Fl. and Savannah Ga., the major carriers fly in and many good fares are available, particularily through Jacksonville Fl. There are many good hotels very close to my home and I will be posting some up in a seperate logistics thread later on. Hotel prices here are quite reasonable.

Now then, those attending can expect the Southern Hospitality Ga. is known for. Lots of good food, drink and plenty of merryment. Anthony will be bringing the sausage, fine potato salad, a Country Boil just to name a few things. Of course All members and their families are invited. I have a good sized home and expect all will fit in just fine.

You can expect at least three different listening room, all on different levels of the house.

Rig #1 will be the Downstairs Woodshed rig, tubed pre/solid state power with several sources and the Amazings as the primary speaker.

Rig #2 will be on the main level, the Reel Time Rig will go Two Channel only, tubed pre with ss power, speakers will be the larger Polk SDA type along with other floor standers.

Rig #3 will be on the top level in a 17x17 bedroom converted for the event, ss and tubed pre, tubed power, with various sources. This rig will be focused on being more intimate with bookshelf and smaller floor standers.

I could also do an HT in another room, maybe with the surround bar if there is interest.

There will likely be a cans rig and at least one outside rig more likely two, I have large long 50' porches on the front and back of the home. Look for the Isonic in one of these rigs.

Most of all, Polkfest is about fellowship with members, its a Party, time to relax and have fun. I look forward to seeing old friends and meeting others who I know by Screen Name. If you have not been able to make one of these, please try to come, it really is amazing to meet all these guys. Polkfest is one of the big things that makes the Club different from typical forums.

Come one, Come all and have a Ball.

PF in Brunswick? Oh yeah! I'll definetly have to put this on the calender and get down there.

Ted, just tell me your not downwind of the pulp mill and/or the Hercules plant. I also hope you wait for gnat season to die off before hosting! St. Simmons is a fun place to stay too! Not the nice beach like Jeckyl, but cheaper to stay and more places to grab a beer. I haven't been down that way in quite a few years, but I have fond memories of the visit.

A bit of an update, although still a ways off, I did hear back from Al at HQ, he says anytime in October will work for them. To pick it and let him know so they can plan on it.

Sooooooo, I am thinking Oct. 5-7, October 8, is Columbus Day (a day off for me) so could extend the Fest or just do some stuff around the area.

What say all the Broham's??? Is this just a terrible date that I dont know about, school or something such???

Early October, staying ahead of the fall industry trade shows and hunting seasons works great for me! I might be conflict free this year! Georgia is a lot easier for me to get to than the east coast for a weekend. Thanks for putting this together. I'm in as of now! Doug.

This would be a homecoming for me. I grew up on St. Simons and we visit friends there that same week every year. It's Fall break for our school in Alabama and we hit the road.

Is this a one day affair? Details please when available. For anyone who has not been to the Golden Isles, it is a treat for the senses. Historic, beautiful, great restaurants...I can smell the ocean already.

PS - Not to step on anyone's plans, but if catering a Low Country Boil is in order PM me. My best friend is in the restaurant business.

apc--Polkfest's are generally three day events, beginning Friday afternoon through Sunday morning or so, they are a ball. Lots of music, gear, food, drinkand libations, you never who might show up in assless chaps, funny hats, or bikini bottoms. Most of all is enjoying meeting the others who frequent this board. The food is prepared by the Host and his merry band of helpers, not the least of whom is Ant'ny and his world famous sausage and peppers.

John--Airports in Jacksonville Fl. and Savannah Ga., also a smaller Jetport in Brunswick, serviced by Delta through Atlanta.

Sid--You are most welcome in my home, same rules as last year, dont worry 21 will come.

RT1--Looking forward and great to see so many familiar and new members planning on being here.

Heiney9...I look forward to seeing you there.... However, have you looked at a map lately? Brunswick GA is SOUTH of Charleston SC (home of 2 of the last 3 PFs) and unless I'm mistaken further away from Illinois.

Maybe you've moved.

We have more hotels than you can shake a stick at.

I will be posting up a logistics thread as time grows closer.

The Island is very nice, its about a 20-25 drive from my house. There are other very nice new hotels much closer at 5-10 minutes drive. The newest ones are at exit 38 off 95, Holiday Inn, Fairfied, Marriott, Country Inn,all offer suites and rooms, 15 minutes away is a Embassy suites which is attached to the Mall.

There are closer hotels at Exit 36 off of 95, they are a bit older but still nice, everything from super 8, motel 6, comfort Inn, and so on, these are 3-5 minutes from my house.

Shack==Just get her a room at the Sea Island Cloister, she will bath in luxury, and you get the honor of paying her bill. After all the woman did agree to sleep with you. Other upscale rooms at the King and Prince on St. Simons, very nice.

OK, the Official Dates of the Polkfest are October 5-7, 2007.

I have had some inquiries from our younger members about coming. You are welcome, with some stipulations:

Under age 21, no alcohol, period, no exceptions.
Under age 18, I absolutely must speak with your parent/guardian and get written permission for you to attend.

Mark your calenders and make your plans, I will put up a logistics thread in a few days.

Looking forward to it and hosting all of you at the casa de trouble'.

T-O.

Dang. Unfortunately, the house is not very wheelchair friendly. You have to be able to somehow get up 16 stairs to get to the main living level, then stairs to a top floor and stairs to a bottom floor to get off it.

I suppose the main level would not be a problem once she reached it as its a pretty open floor plan.

If you decide to come, don't worry about food, just about enjoying yourselves.

Thanks fellas... And just to let you all know.. Yes, I did have quite a bit to drink that day, however, I was there from about 10:30 a.m. - about 11 p.m. I ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner there.. Its not like I slammed all this in within a couple three hours.. I was impaired, but in no way out of control.. Actually, the police officer was all about searching me. I complied with him without a hitch.. I believe he thought he had scored on a drug bust becuase I took an alley to my backyard.. Of course, when he found nothing he threw whatever he could on me. Granted, I should have never been in a bar to begin with, and for the last few years I have not been, other than to bartend.. As a matter of fact, I havent even drank in months. This cop was at tops 21-22 years old, very rude, and was even a lil pushy. Some what chest bumping me and what not. If that makes sense.. I think he was trying to get me to hit him!? Nonetheless, thousands of my hard earned dollars will be spent on judicial BS instead of another set on Lsi15's and a 50+ inch HD plasma.. Almost makes me sick to my stomach! Thanks for the supporting words guys.. Pray for me plz.. I just dont know what I will do if I have to go to prison..

Fortunately, I am a grown man, and I do not have to take undesiginated patrol duties to make myself feel important on an open forum. If you do not like what I have to say, or do not think that is is necissarily pertinent to the particular thread than I suggest you skip over my posts.. You and no one else will or will not tell me what I can and cannot do.. Im not too sure what is up your ass this particular day, but you can get over it.. I have and continue to be a constant contributor to this forum in all aspects. Just because you have X amount of posts in no way makes you superior to anyone else on this forum. This is an open forum to any and everyone that would like to contribute. And by you continuing to post after I stated that I would no longer post on this thread makes you no different than me. So I suggest you step down off that high horse your seem to think you are on and lighten up. If you had read this entire thread, you would realize that what I posted was related to this thread. If you have anything else you would like to say to me, plz Pm me.. I apologize to this thread and anyone "I" have offended.

This will be my first Polkfest and I am very much looking forward to coming. It will be nice to associate a face with the "namesake". Would I be hit with a hot cast Iron frying pan if I asked if I could bring some equipment? Richard Grey Pro 400, or the Rega Apollo?

If the pan's headed my way, disregard second sentence, first paragraph.:D

As I said......looking forward to it.

Tick, Tick, Tick................everything is on track. Heard from HQ yesterday, they are looking forward to the Fest and mentioned having another additional member of the HQ crew joining us this year. Bigger, Better, Bolder, we are Club Polk.

As far as gear goes, we seem to be well equipped, with some very special pieces. One of the "downers" our past fest experience has shown us can occur is damage to equipment when it is changed out. I will most likely appoint official Rack Masters for gear changes, as this has proven to be effective, no offense meant to anyone, but there will be some high dollar gear in the racks for you to get your groove on. As this event is POLKFEST we will feature primarily Polk Speakers, of course the Amazings will be in the Woodshed Rig.

Those folks having special pieces they wish to bring please contact me via the club e-mail link. You should plan on bringing some music you like. You should plan on having fun. You should plan on having a drink, with ole RT1.

Starchaser (my brother) will be there, free rocket trips, no helmets required.

See you all soon. More info is on the way.

We were going to use our Fairfield/RCI points but couldn't get closer than a two hour ride. So we started the hunt for local hotels and flights. The best deal out of Philly right now is $762 round trip with hotel for two. We'll keep posting good deals from our area if anyone wants to jump on them. The one mentioned was from orbitz.com.

If Lou beefs up any more we are going to have to get him 2 seats on the plane. Just kidding Lou. Me on the other hand have gained some weight since I quit smoking so I might be able to partake in the belly bucking contest yet. :D

All Polkies are welcome. If you are under 21 this means no, none, nada, alcohol. Dont even think about other "substances" to use a kind word, my employer has zero tolerance for RT1 breaking laws, especially on his property, so please don't put me in a bad position with the local PD.

If you do imbibe a little to much designated drivers will be here to take you to your hotel, or I will toss you in a corner with a pillow to sleep it off. Just dont drive.

Ok, enough rules.

We are coming up on six months, mark your calenders and come and make some great friends, its really what seperates this club from other internet forums, of course the way the factory gets behind us sure does not hurt.

Ok guys, I have put the Logistics Thread up. Should you need other info and you will like exactly where it is, please use the e-mail link through the club. I will get you the vital contact stats.

Brunswick is a tourist haven and along with all the training for the Law Enforcement Base that agents, officers and cadets attend the Hotels can get filled up, you will always be able to find something, but not necessarily a choice hotel so I would start making my reservation soon if at all possible.

Sid,

That is my brothers ode to the SDA, Starchaser on the Board, he will be attending.

FireWorks are in general legal in my county, however, due to the many wildfires presently burning in Ga/Fl, many counties are enacting bans presently, the Fire Dept, has no humour presently about such things and has banned outdoor burning presently, hopefully, things will turn around and the rains will fall.

So it is a qualified yes, at this point with further info to come, if we have them, being the Lawman I am, I will insist on some sort of organzied, safety first thing, I believe I might just task Fireman Dave with doing it. Of course we have big Lou standing by to kiss any boo boo's and make them better.

OK, I have gone back through the thread and made a list of those who have given definete and hope so.

I am going to put it in the Logistic's thread so it is easy to find and edit and so on. Check it out, if I missed you just let me know, their were quite a few names so I could of easily missed one.

Man its going to be a bash, the rigs are coming together, we are coming together, Polkfest really has become something special, those before me set a high standard. In a rather serious RT1 moment, I really believe Polkfest plays a very large part in making our Forum feel like a home for so many. Very unlike other internet boards.

So, everyone come on down to Georgia (Jaw-ja), Brunswick is a place fairly unknown but really is the gateway to our Golden Isles. Last minute drop ins are welcome as we love suprises.

Please post your interest here, not in the Logistics Thread, check the Logistics Thread (its a sticky right above this one) for updates and too see what crazy members you will be meeting and making friends.

Bring your camera's, believe there will shots that need to be immortalized forever in the Showcase.

The time is actually starting to get close about 10 weeks to go.......

I was in touch with Al and Paul at HQ last week, they are in and are likely bringing some others who want to come and hang with us from HQ, hehehehe, they do not know what they are in for...........

Accordingly, its time to get the "goodie bags" ready, so I need you to send me a message to the Club E-mail link confirming, as we need to give HQ some kind of official Head Count.

Southwest Airlines is running specials right now for those needing to fly in, you need to book soon though, very soon, hopefully, this week.

You do not want to miss this PolkFest. Everything is coming together nicely.
I am looking forward to meeting the Bar set at our prior National Fests.

As a side note, the rumour is true, a Canadian is making the journey, not sure if a dog-sled is in the itenerary. Anthony is laying in the sausage and peppers and the Georgia White Shrimp for the Low Country Boil are growing large in the Sound, my Shrimp Boat Captain Buddy has promised a bounty from his catch for us.

Well no doubt it was a bummer to learn that Polk Paul is leaving for DT, but he knows what is best for him. I spoke with him this afternoon and he would love to come to the fest, but its not really possible, without getting into his business too much, Paul is not leaving Polk with a clean break in service, he will do both jobs for a while which means a minimum of 60 hour work weeks, so there is just no time to come this year, but he said he certainly would love to attend our future fests, make no bones about that.

So the good news is that of course Al Ballard will be here, strong strong rumour has Monica coming and another possibility is Al Barrone and other factory reps, they have said they think they can hang and take the licking we have been known to give our favorite companies products and plans. In any event we will be receiving our customary strong support for this Polk Audio Event.

I mentioned this in a post a few months ago.

My wife has indicated that spending a weekend in a house with a bunch of drunk audio geeks is the LAST thing she would want to do. She states that ONE is more than enough. She'll pass.

Nothing has changed.

In fact, to offset my Fall Polkfest Audio and Golf Tour, she, her sister, and my two daughters will be flying out next Sunday morning for a few days in St. Thomas. Quid pro quo can be expensive sometimes.
