NEW YORK (AP) - The Police will reunite to perform at this year's Grammys ceremony, the Recording Academy announced Tuesday.

The award-winning group, which won five Grammys and turned out hits such as "Roxanne" and "Every Breath You Take," will open the event - 23 years after breaking up.

The band - singer Sting, guitarist Stewart Copeland and drummer Andy Summers - fused reggae with pop and rock, and last performed together in 2003 when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

CBS will air the 49th annual Grammy Awards live from Los Angeles on Feb. 11.

I won't believe until I see it. The fights between Sting and Copeland are the stuff of legend. Even during televised interviews they would take swings at each other....

I really can't think of two people in the same group who detest each other more than these two...

Rumor has it the 3 members of the Police are currently rehearsing in Vancouver, Canada for an upcoming tour.

What's next? Reunion of Van Halen with David Lee Roth? Reunion of Genesis? What about Crowded House? And who can forget about Wham?

Money joins the world together in a chorus of Kumbaya.

Let's here how much they're getting paid for this before we dismiss it.

But this wouldn't be your typical reunion... they loathe each other to this day. Twenty years after the fact and they still throw verbal grenades at each other.

Then again.. didn't they "reunite" for one or two songs about 10 years ago at some record exec's party? Maybe I'm mistaken...

LOL! So true!:D

But a great many bands that have broken up & reunited years later did so because they finally all just got over themselves & put their egos in their respective places. Perfect examples are The Eagles & Fleetwood Mac. They've returned sounding better than ever & credited it to maturity.:)

Ask and ye shall receive...

The news story doesn't mention it, but Michael Anthony is not in the band, apparently touring with Sammy Hagar. Eddie Van Halen's 15 year old son, Wolfgang (Wolfie as he is called) will be playing bass.

Hang on tight for this one!

I can't wait til the induction ceremony of Van Halen into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame in a couple of months....just think....Roth, Hagar, MA, and the Van Halen brothers on stage at the same time. :D

I guess Gary isn't invited.

Sorry for the detour of discussion. Now, back to the Police....

Add to the list Pink Floyd. If only Waters and Gilmour could get along.
