Passion of the Christ: Definitive Edition

I didn't buy the first release as I knew eventually this one would be out. Off to pick it up after work. Any comments (no politcal or religious arguements please)? I've never seen it, but have been wanting to as soon as this came out.

I have the original version and this version just adds a lot of extras...I wonder if there is a difference in transfers or is it the same transfer??

I personally consider it a snuff film. If anything it should have been called "the whipping of the Christ".

This film takes my breath away. It has Catholic undertones but that aside me being a Bible believing Christian I use this film at times when I am at low points due to my illness to inspire me.

As a movie, it was extremely well done. Mel Gibson is an excellent director. I only saw it once in the theater with my wife... we are both Christians, and it seemed pretty accurate. As entertainment, we both weren't terribly impressed. It was very sobering, and not a movie to pick you up, that's for sure!

We watch movies strictly for entertainment, and while "The Passion" was top notch acting and directing, we felt it was more inspiration/educational than anything else. Still a great movie from the one viewing, but those were my thoughts.

What did you think of Mel Gibson's portrayal of Satan? I thought it was very well done. I especially liked how he made him seem a part of a character at any given time.

I loved how he portrayed Satan! Real coniving and sneaking around in the background. Not this beast with horns, but human-like with that evil preseance.

I wish they'd include an English soundtrack. I can't do the whole reading subtitles and watching the movie thing at the same time, my eyes are too bad for that and it gives me a headache...

I thought it was really cool how he planted Satan in the subconscience of the on-looker and that person would feel the influence of his negativity or illusion of good whichever would do the most harm.

I, too, as a Christian viewer thought it was a well done, very moving movie. Definitely not something you'd want to watch every weekend due to the nature of the movie and subject material, but it was well done nonetheless, and I don't suppose I'd mind coming back to it every 6 months or so, though I haven't watched it a second time since I saw it in theaters.

A lot of great movies have subtitles, perhaps some of the best movies ever. I hear it alot, this strange phobia when it comes to subtitles, but its no ones loss except yours if it holds you back.

When I watch DVDs I always put English subtitles because sometimes dialog is hard to discern.
