Looking to upgrade from generic plastic optical cable. Anybody got a premium cable lying around. 2-6 ft would be fine. Preferably less than 4 ft though.

What's the difference besides price, packaging and color of the shield. A 0 and 1 is a 0 and 1 at the speed of light.

Thicker cables give you more confidence in the ability of your system. ;)
You have PM. Hopefully that solves it for ya.

Try this. I am using one in the computer/office system (when it's up and running) so is Steveinaz. Great glass Toslink for not alot of $$$.

They are avail in longer lengths if you need. Order from/through Amazon and I believe the shipping is free for items over $25. That's where I ordered mine from and there was no shipping charge thru Amazon.

BaggedLancer - not sure they are glass - they sure look pretty, but I'm looking for glass. Do you know what the conductor is made of?

They look fine. May go this route.
Does anybody have experience with this cable?

The glass will work better over a 3 mile distance.

Cheaper plastic fiber can "yellow" not a good thing for light transmission. Glass also has lower loss provided it's polished/terminated correctly.

So I bought the ViperAV cable on the recommendation of BaggedLancer, and it arrived today. The build quality is simply fantastic, arrived in a nice box too. Not sure I hear much if any difference over cheapo toslink, but for the price and the quality, its worth it just for the peace of mind alone.
