Time to replace my 2.1 Boston Acoustic system. Prefer same configuration unless someone knows of good pair that has bass equivalent to a sub system. Smaller is better. Suggestions?

I really like a quality 2.1 config for my computer. I purchased a pair of Creative Lab I-Trigue 3300 and the sound is amazing out of these smalll speakers. But laking in the mid range. The drivers a similar to the reference McIntosh speakers. I thing i am going to pick up the 3800's on Ebay soon just to play around with. They use a bi-amp technology. They also have direct audio in so i can use them for a flat panel tv for the spare room also.
I also heard you can't go wrong with the 2.1 Klipsch THX monitors.......

Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX speakers. Made by a real audio company, and I couldn't be happier with them.

Here's a link to more info... (http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/promedia-2-1.aspx) they've won a crap load of rewards.

I bought a set of those too about nine months ago and couldn't be happier with them. I replaced an old Creative Labs set that was about 9 to 10 years old. What I like about these is the "remote" volume/bass level switchs. My old set had just the "remote" volume switch. That feature sure saves having to reach across my table or having the bass speaker within arm's length to adjust it/them. I don't really care about mid range because compared to what I had these are still a "cut above" them. I don't think I'd know mid range if it slapped me upside my head. They were on sale ($64.00 + tax) at Walmart. I think they were trying to get rid of them.

I would suggest 3 speakers:

1. Logitech z2300
2. Klipsch iFi (should be the same price as the Promedia 2.1 but better sounding all around)
3. Altec Lansing 5021... better sats than the Promedias.

Good luck and enjoy whichever you choose.

Joey :)

I've heard the Klipsch 2.1 THX at a bigbox store. I saw one review where the Logitech Z2300 was favored over the Klipsch, but have not heard them personally. I called the Cambridge Soundworks and they have a great deal with free shipping and no tax to my state. Honestly, the price of the CS at $80 is very attractive and I don't need the best sound capability on my PC. I do not watch movies on it. I only need the occasional mp3 or CD after converting a record. If I want good music sound I go to my stereo.

I think you will be very happy with the Soundworks system & it puts out a very good sound & can get quite loud if you want it to!

The Klipsch Promedias are the best computer speaker I have personally heard.

I use Logitech X530 and for the price they are awesome. They are not as good as the Klipsch, but they are also not nearly as expensive.

Put me on the list for the Klipsch 5.1 Pro Media's they are impressive, and they deliver. I have heard people recommend the 2.1 over the 5.1 hello, wake up, the 5.1 is the 2.1 with 3 more speakers.

If you can run the wires its great.
If you play intense games its great.

Just got the Logitech Z-10's on sale. Slick looking speaker that connects via usb rather than your sound card. Result is some pretty clear, detailed sound and led info display !

Apparently you can tinker with the led display to show off other graphics and info. :)

However this is a 2.0 speaker which performs respectable bass. I'm also surprised at the quality built into it. Quite heavy for a computer speaker which features a 1" tweeter and 3" woofer and bi-amped design. The black gloss finish and touch sensitive buttons is icing on the cake for this speaker as well ! Thumbs up !

Creative Labs has some good small 2.1 setups. I bought two sets for the bedroom TVs recently. I-Trigue L3800, and Inspire T3030. It's not home theater quality, but a good inexpensive way to improve TV or computer sound.
