I'm looking for a pair of 2-way bookshelf speakers with 8" drivers. Do you guys know of any manufacturers who still make them?
Thanks.

That's a tough one.
Boston Acoustics still has one bookshelf model with 7" woofers, the VRB.

What about an MTM designed speaker? Or are you specifying two-way due to size considerations?

There's the Sonus Faber Concertos w/ 7" drivers as well. That's the best I can do. :\

Don't know of any bookshelfs, but the center channel Revel Performa C52 uses a pair of 8" drivers, but has a midrange and a tweeter. There are other several center channel speakers out there with 8" drivers, but not in a two way design. Think $$$$$ brands to get one of these. A midrange driver to complement the woofer is usually a requirement when using an 8" driver.

I think (could be wrong) that Athena's AS-B1 bookshelf has an 8" woofer...?

That's cool -- 3-way is OK. I mentioned 2-way to rule out full range drivers.
Any DIY designs out there?

I think madisound has a 7" scanspeak design that's a knock off of the krell LAT-2 (minus the aluminum cabinet)...

Nope, I was wrong. Regardless, give them a call and they can design you a speaker around the drivers you want, but you're getting into weird territory. It'll be hard to get a bookshelf that'll deliver below 40hz, so you'll need a subwoofer, so why kill yourself looking for an bookshelf that'll hit that low?

Nope. 6.5 inch as well as the AS-B2 and the current models AS-B1.2 and AS-B2.2.
An obvious choice is the classic Monitor 5's. 8" passive and a 2-way design. But they obviously aren't new.

the Klipsch RB-81's have an eight-inch woofer to go along with the horn. Low-end extension is only 46 hz though. I just sold a pair. Very little bass for such a "big" woofer, at least in my room.

I'll have the folks up at Paradigm give you a call so you can set them straight. Those idiots can't even get their own web site correct.

B&W 602s have a 7" driver, but 8" is just hard to come by.

Monitor 5's have:
Subwoofer 1 - 8" Diameter (20.32cm)
sub bass radiator
Midrange 1 - 6-1/2" Diameter (16.51cm)
driver
Tweeter 1 - 1" Diameter (2.54cm)
Polk SL2500 dome tweeter

Find ya some "Smaller Advents" in good shape. They have a 9" woofer and are famous for what can be done with a little ingenuity.
One can find a decent pair for under $100, then add another $100 to get the cones refoamed and re-wire the internals(also the "Smallers" have the green "fried-egged" tweeter and the "Largers" have the orange one). Only thing is, they'll need some good, high-current amplification to really make em sing.
