WTB: VPI record cleaner

I know it may be a long shot, but I'm interested in buying a used VPI record cleaning machine. I'm not concerned with aesthetics as long as it functions correctly. Price range is basically anything cheaper then a new entry level Nitty Gritty unit, which is in the $300 range. Thanks in advance,

sorry, but I have never seen a working unit sell for less than 300.00 rarely if ever do they come up in the flea market.

Good Luck though and I guess you never know, I got mine off of Audiogon.

I figured so, but always worth a shot. I can't swing a new one right now, but don't want to spend $300 on a model without a platter for the record.

Every time there is one listed at Audiogon for less than $350, its a feeding frenzy and they are usually sold same day. There was one for $250 last week that was gone in minutes.

If you want it move quickly, its a great price, if he had listed it seperately these usually go in one day or just hours.

I plan on making a variation of this and was holding out for a DIY post.

A 2" crevice tool from HomeDepot should do nicely with any standard wet/dry vac.

Not sure what the results will be but maybe someone who has tried this will chime in.

Thanks for the A-gon link and the advice, folks. I was out of town 'til today and must have missed out on the cleaner he had for sale. Still holding out hope, though. Haven't seen the tax return yet, so I am still without turntable.

There have been several around your price range lately. You will need to frequently check and act immediately if you are serious about getting one.

I was in contact with that guy and the first to make an offer he was willing to accept. He was very flakey and unsure about how he would package the item for shipping. Given my recent disasters, it made me feel a little uneasy about dealing with him. I let it go to someone else (who will probably receive it damaged!)

Having dealt with poor packers a couple of times, I agree with you. Move on and wait for another to pop up, like the one jt posted.
