I know i've asked a similar question but does amperage(PEEK TO PEEK) per channel really matter????????

An amp with greater current capability will be better able to drive low impedance loads of say 4 ohms or less.

if your not running 4 ohms or lower speakers, I really would not worry about it, if your using it for bookshelve speaker I would not worry about it, you would do a little better with higer voltage on a smaller speaker, where as big low impedance woofers or multi driver (more than 3, or more than 2 of the same size) you would do better with a higher amperage amp, as it will have the extra current to control the drivers.

While average current is usually pretty low, peek to peek amperage in an ideal situation can be quite large. This is especially true in movie soundtracks with large dynamic ranges. As a general rule, the lower the impedance of the speaker, the more current you will need. However, even 8 ohm speakers could greatly benefit from a high current amp.


EDIT: As a side note, even a high current amp may be starved for current if it is not given the proper power input. Most high current amps will need a dedicated power line to perform best. If a dedicated power line is not available, a large (1 – 5kW) balanced power transformer will be helpful. Of course the transformer would be much, much more expensive the dedicated power line.
