Pair of F/X 1000s on eBay. Seller states he bought them new 2 years ago and they are still in the box. Seems unlikely to me as I thought they were last made about 15 years ago.

why is this so important anyways? this has been known to happen.. a store will find in their warehouse hidden gems like speakers or electronics that have been discontinued for several years.. then sell them.. NIB.
I once read some store had found a bunch of very good McIntosh gear that had never been sold or opened in their store. they technically could sell it as new.. never opened... 15 to 20 + yrs old now.. but still new in box and unused. :D
I think Sid is right though.. prob at least 5 or 6 yrs since the last made the FX/1000's

Thanks for the input. Audiogon Blue Book lists the f/x1000 appearing in 1996. About 5-6 years ago for last one seems probable. I thought they came out at the time of the SDA's, why I thought they had not been made for about 15 years.

I'm looking for surrounds that can handle 250 or so, so I have been looking for the f/x 1000's as they are a close timbre match to my RT2000i mains.
Anyways, my point is I saw those on EBay and deleted them from my watch list. The seller is brand new and is also selling a CS1000p. Take a look at the photo of the Center. One of the drivers is all brown and faded looking.
He says he bought them all 2 yrs ago and has only used them 10 times. Yeah, OK. Yeah, I'd pass on these if I were you as the seller seems to be of ill-repute.

Saw that also. The CS1000p drivers look like they are covered with nicotine. I wrote seller and asked how he managed to buy discontinued speakers "New" 2 years ago, and a few other questions. His only reply was "You are wrong." Not answering my questions put me off the speakers.

I'd say 2002. I remember having to pick my new pair up from the grey market since Polk had stopped production.
