Well, any of you who remember my saga with my system (bad subwoofer on my left channel LSi25, coke having been mysteriously poured into my NAD reciever with bad soldering), might be pleased to hear that I finally got my reciever back from the repair shop and I hooked everything up and it appears to be working like a charm. I had left for a month vacation in Thailand in January and told the shop to hold it until the week of my return. It arrived 6 days after I got back. I still have to get all the channels leveled out, but man I forgot how glorious my LSi25's are! Almost brought me to tears.
I must say, the only folks who really stepped up to the plate on this whole matter were the people at NAD. The shop that sold me the reciever in Seattle were no help at all and never got back to me on any requests that I made. The repair shop, while they did their work well enough, were slow and, according to NAD, very overpriced. But NAD stepped up to the plate and did everything they could to make sure I was happy. A great comoany indeed!
These problems have made me think about possibly getting away from the whole reciever thing. I dont know a lot about the area of stereos and HT, even though I have tried to educate myself over the course of building up my system. So I'm asking for some helpful suggestions. Do I have to have a reciever to have HT? Does anyone make a "surround preamp" or something like it? I'm willing to get a 3 channel amp or a powerful five channel to run all of my speakers if I can avoid having to use a reciever again. Anyone have any suggestions?
