I am running 3 amps with my avr and one of them got fried,so I purchased another one to replace the fried amp for my center at 200wpc , but it has no auto on and off feature and no 12volt trigger so I really don't want to plug it into the switched outlet on my avr since it's rated at only 100watts and I don't want to leave the amp on all the time.
So my question is is there some type of gadget I can get to turn my amp on and off automatically.

You could try something like this:

I built my own years ago with a plain power strip, and a relay purchased at Radio Shack. The unit was switched on and off by the switched outlet on the pre-amp.

Can you provide a schematic or drawing since I am pretty handy with a soldering iron.

You will need these:
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2049722&cp=&sr=1&origkw=relay&kw=relay&parentPage=search
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062476&cp=&sr=1&origkw=relay+mount&kw=relay+mount&parentPage=search
And a power strip with space to mount them, and a spare two prong ac plug with wire (old lamp cord or whatever).
The schematic is on the relay package.
Cost is about $20 total, if it were available at the time, I would have just bought somthing pre-made, like the one in the above link.

I already made one by using a mini 9 volt relay with a 12a 120v contacts and a $3.99 power strip a 9 volt plug in transformer a soldering iron and a hot glue gun and she works great.
Thankyou for the info....
