What the difference between these and 12AX7's? Lower gain? Are they interchangable? Reason why I am asking is that I am looking for a "cleaner" preamp tube for my Marshall JCM2000 DSL100 in V2 position (clean channel)

you will have to check with your preamp manufacturer to see if they are interchangable.
