Connected to the "lfe" with monster cable and annoying the neighbors ;)

So did I put the amp output into self protect or the sub? :confused:

Should it be a concern? It is a simple theatre system that rarely does 95db . . .

I think you turned the Onkyo up too loud. It shuts off automatically to protect itself.

Actually should have clarified that only the sub "shut off" and the other speakers continued to play. When the ground quit shaking I checked the sub, turned everything down, reset the system and then the sub started working again.

Yes, the sub protects itself from too much signal which overdrives the PSW12 amplifier.

That Onkyo is a very good receiver. I have the TX-SR702 (one step up) but previously had a TX-SR500 and it was also a good receiver.
