Need Assistance-CC employees

Unfortunately the inevitable occured. The house next door turned the volume up on their system. Interpreting this as a challenge, I rose up to the occasion to meet it. My Polks absolutely crushed them, sending bass shockwave attacks within my own walls and their own. They bowed down graciously.

Like in all battles, with victory comes casualties. In this battle of watts and drivers, the subs have been rendered a complete loss. Blown and emit a simple ratt and squeek when played.

Fortunately, the 2000's are on the 10 yr warrenty plan.

My question is this (my apologies for the story)....

I plan on getting the drivers replaced as the warrenty agreement clearly states.

However, I have heard that CC also does trade-in's. Meaning you trade in your equipment for another system, granted, if your new system costs more then what you payed for.

The Polk2000's costed roughly $1150.00.. (includes the 10 yr warrenty).

I have given some thought into purchasing a new set of non-powered Polks, and a 15' Velodyne sub to replace the system.

Assuming you can indeed do trade-in's.... how much MORE to I have to pay for them to honor this? Is it a certain percentage of the total amount spent on your previous purchase?

Any insight would be great.

Problem is, I highly doubt I will be able to get 1k for a pair of used Polk 2000p's. Even after I get all the drivers and what-not replaced.

800 if Im lucky.

Depends on how ya sell it..........Some people might pay for the remaining 8 years of warranty (if it's transferrable).

I did just see some new 2000's for 1k here in Phoenix, so who knows......

Brett, excellent point. I will have to see if it is indeed transferable. I do not reserve any hopes for the answer I want to hear.

I plan on doing this locally, and having who is interested....to come in and actually demo the speakers for themselves. Im sure the wow factor may be in my favor, as the 2000p's without a doubt, hold that stance.

We will see.

I just recently listened to the 2000's and I thought that they sounded a lil muffled in their sound. Maybe they weren't set up correctly, but it was a night and day difference between them and the 3000's that i was listening to..........

How much did you pay for them when ya got them? Just curious.......

That muffled sound is what I refer to as the "Home Theatre" sound. The applications they seem to really excell in are tv or movie audio.

Musically however, they leave a lot to be desired. Essentially they are mid-fi speakers that can produce realistic volume, but not sound.

I ended up getting them for free actually, so I cant complain. haha It was these speakers who got me into the whole audio world, so I had relatively little experience with anything else.

My parents ended up paying $1,150.00

Not *too* bad considering at the time they retailed at CC for around $840.00 each

they make good surounds i use my rt-20p as surounds and there about the same as rt-2000ps and mind make real good surounds, get some lsi- line for the mains. for real good sound stage, and clear dyanamics.

Unfortunately the pocket-book doesnt particulary favor me purchasing a set of LSi's, cable, etc..... If I can sell the speakers for the price payed, I will most likely replace them with the LSi9s if I can find a good enough price for them.
