Hello All,

I just won my 1st pair of SDA SRS 1.2TL's and I am going to pick them up Saturday Morning with a Uhaul Van.

I am only driving them around 45 miles.

What's the best way to put them in the Van?

On their Side? or flat on their back?

Should I find a mattress and put them on it to cushion the ride?

Thanks,

Lasareath

I have a Suburban and they should fit nicely. Just tell me where to pick
them up and I'll never look back.

Mattress would be beneficial. Flat on the back. Remove a driver from each speaker, too. that way you want have any unwanted movement from the drivers.

Good Luck and congrats.

Flat on there backs. If you use a mattress put a blanket between them. Also put them as close to the front as possible.
Enjoy

Like the guys said, a mattress is recommended. Brace them in the van with whatever to keep them from shifting while the van is moving (around turns, braking, etc.) Good luck and congrats!

A thinking man knows that a hand truck and leverage works wonders. I don't lift shit.

Lay them on their backs on top of 4 or 5 professional moving blankets, not those cheap ones at U-Haul and use some more to pad all around and in between them.

I am going to UHaul, I guess I can rent one of their hand Trucks as well, they have those real heavy duty ones with the big pneumatic tires that made it easier to climb stairs.

I have two flights of stair to go up, and one of them curves (Should be lots o fun)

Make sure the hand truck does not damage them. 188 lbs each refrigerator dolly would be best. Lots of padding for everything. on dolly too

Good Luck

If there are two of you it would probably be safest to just carry them up the stairs one at a time. Be prepared to stop and rest and believe me, the person at the lower height will take a lot of weight. It takes real horsepower to move them. As others have said, make sure you take a driver out before transporting them. Personally I would remove the passive radiator.

I agree with madmax but if you have only you Uhaul should has a refrigerator dolly for rent but alway call ahead to see if they have a truck and dolly.

i agree with madmax, i'd carry them up instead of using a hand truck.. the hand truck may damage the wood. two of us carried ours into the house. but we didn't have any stairs to climb. that's gonna suck, going up two flights of stairs. but it can be done i'm sure.

engtaz
04-06-2007, 01:35 PM
Any time you use a hand truck make sure it is well padded all they way around including the bottom.

engtaz

P.S. remember 6 pack used properly tends to get a helping hand.

Its all about air pressure and area. Move that big PR a little and you move the drivers a lot. Given the different areas if you put a speaker with a PR inside a car and slam a door you may blow out the drivers, physically. Put one in the back of a pickup and get a good lift or push on the passive it can damage the drivers also. BTW, I meant I would only take out the PR, not the PR and a driver. Only because there is no wiring to disconnect. Doesn't really matter, removing even one of the smaller drivers allows the pressure to equalize.

Use of a minivan is enought flat on the backs blanket or blankets in between .....12 hours ride and there happy !! oh wait Im happy ...if your using a uhaul move them as far forward as you can those trucks are pretty stiff in the rear suspension. bounce them babies around a bit if not careful.

Ok im not starting anything but Im curious the pressure would be the same with or with out the pr installed you have 8 drivers against 1 15 inch pr. when the door is shut the pressure is applied to everything in the car not just the drivers..... both the pr and the drivers will feel it. Im thinking roll the windows down

What is taking a driver out going to do? I have put more than 400 watts of power to each speaker. The cones jump so hard and so fast I don't understand what taking a driver out would help. The only concerns I have with drivers is the magnets breaking loose.

How many people didnt remove any drivers when they transported their 1.2's or 2.3's?

My Cousin Vito is helping me, he's pretty strong, he does a lot of vertical face mountain climbing. He's the one who helped me carry up my 1C's, they were pretty easy.

I guess these are like carrying up both 1C's at the same time, lol

I think I will take the bottom, and guide them up, If I need to, I can rest and place the speakers down every 5th step or so.

Thanks all for the Input, I'll let you know how it went @ around 2pm est tomorrow.

I didn't but as I said I was in the back babysitting them as my son drove. His suv wasn't big enough to lay them flat so I had them in a V with the drivers facing each other.

I didnt take any drivers out .but in the back of a mini van so no air movement like in a pick up, You cant be too careful I guess, they dont make these anymore so , whats it take about 2 minutes to take one out versus not.

OK, now you've started it... The pressure is applied to everything in the car. It is applied equally in pounds per square inch over all areas. The area of the the PR is much larger than the smaller drivers so it ends up being pushed in much harder than the other drivers. Pretty much it wins. Think of this, when is the last time you saw a PR in a car setup? :D

When transporting,I always remove one of the drivers,so when I'm stopped, the police can search them more easily, you know,,an easy acess point to put their little mirrors and flashlights in. :p

Active x 2 for the PR to get the resonance frequency or there about., etc, somewhat.;)
