Will this amp run my mains?

I'm putting together a speaker package for myself. I'm getting all of the speakers first, then I will buy an AVR (and amp if necessary) to power it. I'm still undecided on what I'll use for fronts... (I'm replacing 30 year old speakers).

This will be my setup:
Center: Polk CS2
Fronts: Polk RTi10 OR Polk Monitor 70
Rears: Polk Monitor 30

I'm looking at an Onkyo sr604. It's rated at 90wpc rms at 7 channels into 8 ohms with .08%thd. So my question is: Can anyone tell me if the 604 will be powerful enough to run a pair of RTi10's or Monitor 70's?

Depends on how loud you want to go, and how big your room is. The RTi10 has an 89db efficiency and the Monitor 70's have a 90db efficiency. Personally, I'd want something a little beefier to push all those drivers.

I would say yes Mikey. In terms of wattage (power) I think Onkyo has plenty of it.

In my experience, Onkyo has never let me down in terms of power, but the sound quality is personal opinion.

Thanks, guys. I was hoping to hear that the 604 would be enough. I like the features of that receiever. The room this stuff will be in is 12x15, so it's on the smaller side.

I had both the Onkyo 603 and 674 driving an RTi bookshelf setup at one point, and it sounded pretty good. Granted it was in a smaller room, and the receiver did get pretty warm, but the monitors should be just fine. I was in about the same size room as yours. No worries, Mikey. :)

go for the rtis, and to better match the 10s, opt for the CSi3 and FXi3 rears.

I will agree with PolkThug. I had Onkyo 100 a ch 6.1 ended up with separate amps for main, center, and side surround @ 200 watts a channel.
