Right now I don't have a single piece of Adcom Power in my collection. I have a bud selling his GFA 585 for $475. I could most likely get him down to $450. Is this a good price? And lets have your thoughts on the performance of this unit. At 250 wpc I think I may be doing the right thing. He also has a set of Carver Amazings for $400. How bout that price?

Your input will be greatly appreciated.

I've been debating about the amazings,do you know what condition they are in? For the price it seems like a no brainer, the amp seems reasonably priced as well.

If the 585 is in good shape that is a killer deal on a killer amp. If you don't want it. I will seriously consider it. My bro has one and it's one of the top line Adcoms you could buy. A statement piece (sort of) back then.

Jump on that Adcom. I got about $750 for mine when i sold it two years ago.

'course that said, I wasn't a big fan of the 585. Too much amp, not enough chassis. Bastard ran hot as hell.

Both pieces are in great shape. Amazings have a scratch here and there in the frames, but I'll be able to touch these up. The Adcom is minty fresh :-)

This guy (http://www.empiricalaudio.com/frmods.html#Adcom%20GFA-585%20Mods) seems to have an incredibly high opinion of that Adcom amp. Sounds like a nice deal.

Ah......I would kill for a set of Amazings......Especially at that price. Are they originals, silvers, or plats?

OK...update. I traded off a pair of Acoustec Labs GM-260's for the Adcom 585 plus $500. I had to throw in a new matched quad of EH KT-90's and a new quad of JJ ECC 82's / 12AU7's Gold Pins to make the deal happen. I just happened to have another set of the Acoustech Labs in my collection, plus I got $500 to boot. This thing is amazing. Strong and clean with plenty of power. I'm not much of a fan of SS after being raised on tubes, but this unit really sounds good. Pushes my SDA 2B's nicely. Close to the Mac I'm sampling now in my 2 channel rig.

The Amazings are priced at $650. I was wrong about the posted price I mentioned earlier. They do look good and sound pure and clean. Only minor blems on the frames as I said before. I'm tempted, but I have my eyes on a set of RTA-12's for $150 at the moment. This should evolve into another trade if all goes well. After being sidelined with heart trouble the funds are slower than before. I still get my salary, but I miss the extra money I make from the per diem I get while working. That extra $600 a week goes pretty far when I work deals with the motels while on the road and fire up the old Little Smokey grill on the tailgate of my truck.

The Amazings could be had if anybody is interested. I love the guy to death but he's a bit burned out from Desert Storm. Kinda paranoid and all that crap. I could act as a go between and secure these. Pics if you need. If you don't like em' I could keep em' or sell on the 'Bay. He could use the bucks, I don't need the speakers....but they are cool. Since I sold my mags I don't have anything like these to impress the folks who think I've gone off the deep end over Audio. Contact me if you might be interested. I'll post in the FS for chits and giggles to see what happens.
