Folks,
I remember seeing some information about moving the big boys but I can't seem to find it in the archives. I will be moving both pairs of speakers in the back of a covered p/u truck about 20 miles so multiple trips will be made. The last 3 miles of the trip are on a dirt road in fair shape. Should I lay these on their sides or back? How much padding should I use? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

On their back with padding under, between and anywere that they may come in contact. I used a couple of large quilts

Drive slow on the dirt road.:)

someone mentioned removing a speaker to help the speakers not get damaged. Those speakers are seal enclosures.
Good Luck

Lay them on a mattress, brace them with blankets or whatever so the don't move around. Drive slow, make sure you have some folks to help you carry them.

The concrete driveway up to my house is nice and level. Bring them over here:D

Too much padding under them will cause them to rock into each other.

The biggest factor I've noticed is packing them tight so they don't shift around. With their weight, this is often hard to do even for paved roads. I would drive no faster than 2-3 MPH on the dirt road. Regarding mattresses... I can only see how this would create a bouncy environment. What I have used are thin foam pads similar to ones used for camping. Some recent discussions on "moving":

When I picked up mine 3 weeks ago I used a futon mattress and a bunch of blankets placed in-between the two so they would not bang into each other.

Carrying them one at a time with two people was not that bad. Going up my two flights of stairs was difficult with the 1st one, but the 2nd one was much easier. One of my cousin's was up top just basically guiding them and me and another cousin were at the bottom lifting the 1.2's every 3rd steps, so we basically walked them up the steps. That way was very easy.
