I reposted this under a new thread, I felt it was kinda of stupid attaching it to an old post.
Well she did buy me the Alpine IVA W200 and the Alpine PXA H701. I installed the Alpine IVA w200 very happy. As of about 3 weeks ago I puchased a dls ultimate 8.3, dls ultimate A3 amp dls ultimate A7 amp, a extra pair of uri 1 tweeters a ur 12 sub and xm sat hookup. I want to go active I plan on putting the 3" mid and 1 tweeter in the kicks and 1 in the a piler, the 8" will go into a custom inclosure lower door panels, with the sub in a center sealed box between the seats. Question what would a good starting point be for cross points over with slopes. This is going into a Dodge 2006 quad cab PU.

Thanks John

I would go with DLS' recommendation on crossover points.

It depends on speaker placement and how much power you're sending to each driver. If you're tri-amping, I'd work with each driver at a time, then get them in phase when they're playing altogether.

The manufacturers recommended settings are a good starting point as theyll generally sound pretty good set at that.

Plus, you should consider them a warning as well. You could fry your tweeter by setting it too low. If the manufacturer has them set at 3.5 KHz from the factory, I wouldnt venture too far below that.

I don't know what the factory set them at is the problem. I will be running the 8's with the A3 each channel 100 watts, the mid and the tweet 60 watts each and the sub at 300 watts single voice coil or 460 dual voice coil from the A7.

I sent an email to Pinny at Dls he is forwarding it to engineers in Sweden for there input on this. This could turn out to be a very beautiful thing. :D
