like everything audio....subjective.Some think they are better than sliced bread,and some think they are too cold sounding.As for me,I have heard some and will agree on the sterile sound.Add to that the price and I think you can do better.Thats not to say I wouldn't pick one up if the price was right,just for giggles.Competition is rampant in that price range.

I've always lusted after the 333, 150 lbs of clean class A power! Heard it years ago and it didn't sound sterile or cold to me. I won a bid for one on eBay last summer but it turned out to be a scam.:mad:

Actually, the ML stuff of late has leaned towards dark. The Krell stuff has been sterile (the end result of a search for "perfection"...I like the stuff from the late 80s and early 90s, before they became so "perfect"). Not so much the case if you go back to their older stuff. I really liked the 27 and the 23 of years past.

Bummer on the auction.

Well I've heard the sound of amps describes as warm, soft, open, sterile, grainy, harsh, etc, etc, I never heard of an described as "dark." Could you please break that out for me a little more?

Could you please break that out for me a little more? dark = a warm,mellow, excessively rich quality in reproduced sound.the audible effect of a frequency responce which is clockwise tilted across the entire range,so that the output diminishes with increasing frequency.thanks....WCW III ;)

Does that sound bad to you? It would appear by your description that they are boardering on muddy.
