Can't figure this out for sure! I have finally gotten some time and put all of my equipment together. Harman Kardon avr 645, Tripath t amp, rti6 fronts, rti 4 sides, fxi5 backs with the rti 12 as my center (experiment) and a cs 25-31. Everything is working well. I first hooked all of the speakers up to the avr 645. Worked well, good sound. Then I hooked up the center and svs sub into the proper preouts to the tripath t amp. In stereo mode it sounds really well. But then I started hooking up the video and audio but the second I touch the connectors to any plug in ports on the avr I get this humming noise. As far as I can tell everything is hooked up correctly. The humming only comes through the center channel and sub which makes me think it has something to do with the amp itself. Also the amp has a and b speaker buttons and if I turn off the a speaker it no longer hums. Not sure what to check next. Any ideas?

Search -> "Ground Loop"

If you think it might be the T-amp, pull it out, and run everything directly off the AVR and listen. It will either point the finger, or rule it out in short order.

Cheers,

It was definitely the amp, but I couldn't figure out what. Switched the plug and where it was plugged in and the problem has disappeared. I'm not sure I what I did fixed it but I am glad it is gone...for now.

It always help to do one thing at a time, addition wise then the problem if there is one is easily solved.
