I'm consolidating all my gear into a couple rrigs, and these need to go.

I bought these a while back from Russ, and have enjoyed my time with them. They have a great 'live' sound to them, they're very fun to listen to.

Here's the original thread where Russ introduced them to the forum.
http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39118

Here's where I bought them from Russ:
http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39573&highlight=alpha+8

I paid $250 for them, and they're more than that IMO, but I'll pass along a good deal to a fellow Polkie as Russ did for me.

I'll take $150 for them, local pick up only - Dallas area. I'm willing to deliver these or meet within a reasonable distance, so I could meet someone from the Houston, San Antonio, Oklahoma City type distances half way. I'm also open to offers and trades, especially for headphone gear.

There are pics in the first thread I linked, but I also took a few when I set up the LSi7 a couple weeks ago. They weren't the subject for these pics, but you can see them here also - http://s193.photobucket.com/albums/z302/polkmaniac/

IIRC, it didn't take long for Russ to sell them either, I think I snagged them within an hour of him posting the thread...

At first I thought about repainting them or veneering them, but I actually really like the red, as did the wife - it's actually a darker red than the pictures indicate.

Nice speakers. If anyone local buys these, they are welcome to pick up my Pioneer Elite A35-integrated to run them with :)

I'm about to put it up in a FS thread. Got a new HK 3480.

I have dibs if you are going to ship them

AsSiMiLaTeD

I appreciate the offer Jim, but don't see myself shipping these.

If these were mass produced speakers built in a factory, I wouldn't mind taking my chances on shipping. But since these were hand made, I just can't risk them being destroyed during shipping. If no one here takes them, I'll just store them until I have room for them again.

All the locals are probably not in the market after already acquiring some great speakers from Russ. I have the Thiels, Dave has the LS90s, Sami probably has something from him, etc.

No vacancy :)

Sami has DQ10's and Paradigm 11SE's.

Those Pi speakers sound great, and the red finish is real Soho, art deco, Eames era kind of finish.

Cheers,
Russ

did you put those together on your own with the kit Russ? or did you buy them??

I got a chance to talk with Fred out at the Audio meet a couple weeks back and we talked about these. He's a great guy, and those line arrays he had set up are wonderful speakers.

These are back up for sale. I'm all moved in to the apartment, and just don't have room for these. I will also no longer have a place to store them after next week.

I'm open to offers, and am willing to trade for headphone gear. Someone take these and keep them in the family.

oMG, I'm going to have to quite my job, find a new one in Dallas, and move there? I like that color. I like that color ALOT. I have 600, 1500, 2000, 2500, 6000, and 12000 grit sandpaper that I can use to make that Red look like a liquid river.

AsSiMiLaTeD
09-05-2007, 10:09 AM
i'm also willing to deliver these within a reasonable distance or meet someone within 2 - 3 hours of here.

I really do need to move these on. We have lots less room now that we're in the apartment. I coulddn't justify paying $120 a month for the next year for a climate controlled storage unit for a bed and a pair of speakers, so I sold the bed and now looking to do the same with these. It's These are a great pair of speakers, someone take them off my hands. I can't keep them sitting in the not like they are huge, but when you go from 2500 sq ft to 1500 sq ft, space becomes more critital.

These are a great pair of speakers, but i can't keep them sitting in the bedroom forever.

I also have the Sonic Impact T amp that I've been powering these with - I'll include this for an extra $10.

I'm on a buying spree right now. Let me think for a day or two. Got a picture of the sonic and maybe some specs?

AsSiMiLaTeD
01-12-2008, 10:06 PM
As mentioned, these speakers are local pick up only, are you in the DFW area?

I'm not planning on selling the amp separately, was just adding that as a bonus for someone to have something to power these speakers...

Thanks

I sure would like to see these get a new home. I honestly can't believe that for $150 I've had so much trouble moving them - I know they've gotta be worth that much alone in parts...

All you people buying up the R30 at Frys for $99 need to be looking at these... :D

dorokusai

Yea, no kidding. $150? It's like hi-fi is dead or something.

Maniac I am near Flower Mound. Although I am tempted, I just can't see what the heck I would do with another set of speaks. I already have a pair of old SPL towers sitting in my garage.
