SOLD

This is a nice tube preamp that I bought just over a year ago from TroyD. I have not used it very much and it is in the exact condition I received it in. Here is the link to the original thread which gives the features and a picture.

damn I just bought a audible illusions m3a for twice that much. Does this or any tube pre have a true tape monitor capability which loops the source out through a tape out to a dbx or eq and then back into the tape in?

The PV7 is a wonderful pre-amp.

Anyone know if it has a true tape loop. No one else would need this but me. No dibs yet? c'mon a tube pre with phono is hard to find.

I got this today and all is good. Swell packing and a 1 day delivery from Tex's north texas pole.

I had the 2b's hooked up to the kyocera receiver which I began to realize was a waste of their potential so I started planning a simple rig for them. I had a carver m1.0t sitting idle and I've always wanted to mix a tube pre- and a ss amp and thus the plan was hatched.

I lucked on a Ah! '99 locally and had to try it for $325. It took quite a bit of listening to it to hear any difference between it and the 4000 with upsampler. So this freed up the Jolida JD100 in my tube rig and the plot thickens.

I pulled the gun too soon on a audible illusions mod 3a and it sounds incredible but it doesn't have a true tape loop monitor.

I waffled on Tex's PV7 for a couple of days to give everyone else a shot at it and to make sure it's what I want. The kicker was calling conrad johnson customer service and they confirmed the tape loop feature.

It's not a killer rig but it's formidable. The synergy is there, I put the carver to good use and the 2b's are phenominal as always.

I immediately put in 3 telefunken ecc83's (12ax7) and will probably add 2 telefunken ecc81 to replace the 2 12at7's if they're compatible.

Does anyone know the breakdown of what the 3 12ax7's control and the same for the 2 12at7's?

Also I've never had a tube pre- run this hot. Is that the power supply or is this thing a tube eater (voltages are too high)?
