1 problem...

im running 2 mm120s off of a rf bd1000.1 amp
i have 1 sealed box with seperate sealed chambers that have been reinforced and a pound of polyfill put in each chamber
my problem is at louder listening levels they begin to pop when the bass hits
(btw--the punch bass is all the way down)
do you think i have a wrong setting on the amp or what?
i have since forgotten what the settings on it were but i do remember the Hz frequency is set pretty low
i have them under the back seat of my 96 extended cab chevy
and one sub does it more than the other
but i can only really hear it when i move the front seat forward
its about 5 inches or so from the woofer
any help would be appreciated

sounds like your gain is too high, and you may have slightly damaged your woofers.... first off, crank the gain down a bit and if the problem dissipates, then be happy, otherwise you may need to get your momo's replaced/fixed.

the punch bass knob is a lot different than the gain.... the gain for lack of a better word, "amplifies" the whole spectrum of sound going through your amp... the punch bass only "amplifies" a certain frequency range. you'll most likely want your low pass cutoff point set somewhere around 80Hz

Other than your problems, sounds like a nice setup, i've got basically the same thing, except i've got the new momo's with enclosure... bd1000 mono block, with a pair of MM12's... and EX3 6x9's and 5 1/4's and a pair of fosgate 3 1/2" 2 ways for my midrange

i had teh same junk happen to me a few times... one time i blew the crap out of a sub and fried the voice coil...

this latest time i think i only marginally hurt them..lol.. i refused to allow break in, and hten i had too big of a box.. this caused over excursion and crappy sound / flapping.

after a while, i figured it all out, cut the box down to proper size, and let teh subs rest...

now its about 90% as good as it could abeen had i done it right to begin with.

but ya.. haviing that punch bass at anything more than half is suicide for the subs. and the gain over 70% is a killer too.

but the box is .88 per chamber
or i took it to get it modified and thats what it sposed to be
but it looks right
