I am dealing with an odd shaped room and an additional factor would be my wife. Currently as my rear speakers I am using a pair of Mission 773's. I had them as my front speakers in the basement until my kids got old enough to blast music so bought some sacrificial JBL's. Surprisingly they haven't trashed them yet. They are being driven by a Denon 5700.
i bought two pairs of speakers for the rear channels (5.1) setup. They are lsic fx's and just aquired a pair of POLK rti 70's. My wife is resistant to the lsci fx because of their size and they don't fit aesthetically in our family room. The rti70's cabinets are (dark) cherry which will mix with our furniture. The missions are smaller therefor less obtrusive. I could force the issues but i prefer to weigh the consequences. Has anybody used the Rti 70 as a rear speaker. I have auditioned them side by side with the Missions and frankly for rears I can't tell the difference. Incidentally my youngest son has an interest in which I choose because he is just setting up his first apartment as a college student and he get's either the rti70's or the missions. Any one willing to voice an opinion?

Wow man, you already have all that NICE equipment and she won't let you hang two speakers?,

But I hear ya, I wanted to setup a Pair of SRS 2's for my rears but I would have to remove one of our recliners (her's, lol) she didn't go for it.

I don't know what to tell you!

I'd just hang the Polk's

Yeah. It's your house too. make a deal and if she still does not like them hanging there in a month you will re-negotiate. Maybe some in-walls.

thanks guys, it's my feeling as well. Maybe she can come home from work to a nice meal and not notice that I have already hung the correct speakers.
the room is 17'0" X 30'0" with the equipment centered on the long wall with the rears in the corners about 30'0" apart
