Hi everyone,

I currently have a 56in Samsung DLP TV and I will be moving across the country next month. We have hired a moving company to pack and move everything in the house. I am very concerned however about my TV and I was wondering if anyone has any tips/advice on moving a large DLP TV. I am especially worried about rough handling and having the mirrors, color wheel, or other delicate internal parts jostled out of whack in the move. Has anyone been through this type of thing before? Thanks!

do you still have the original box and foam packing material? if so.. pack it up in that they was it came to you... if not.. then i don't have any other suggestions, but someone should know a good way to pack it for moving.

Put a heavy cloth over the screen --- and pray for the best on the moving truck... - maybe surround it with pillows and quilts...

Keep those boxes folks!

I'd also make sure everything is 100% insured.

A lot of times moving companies will only insure electronics for obvious falls, breaking the housing, etc. If it turns before you leave and doesn't when you get to your destination, but there are no obvious signs of "trauma", typically you are S.O.L. If you have time, you may want to call Samsung and have them see if they can ship youn the original box or call the place you bought it from periodically and see if they have unpacked the same model at their store. If not, I would get an oversized box and wrap the TV in bubble wrap three or four times over. Get stryrofoam inserts to prop the corners and support along the main housing. Then fill with packing peanuts. That should cover a lot of your bases, but by no means is it fail proof.

You might just consider parting it out before you move and then buy new when you get where you're going. Just a thought.
