Who makes the best amp under $3000? I'm either looking for 200 wpc x 7 or maybe even 300 wpc x 5. I'm just wondering who is the best name in amps, never used one before, but I want to integrate it into my ht. Outlaw, Emotiva, Sunfire, are a few that have some products in the range I am looking at. I trust you guys more than most of the magazines and websites, what are your thoughts??

Buy one, try it. Like it, keep it. Don't like it, sell it and buy another.

You could probably get a Marantz 8B in decent condition for that money (possibly less). If it needed basic restoration; I'd be happy to sling the solder (if you're someplace in New England) :-)
You would not regret it (unless you're using very inefficient speakers).

Earthquake makes one helluva HT amp. I have a 5 channel and it's incredible.

Look at a used earthquake or krell showcase for the best under $3000.
However unless you have speakers that reach under 4 ohms (like the lsi line) you probably don't need that good of an amp. For your setup, id get an outlaw and spend the extra money on a dedicated 20 amp circuit and room treatment.

I've always dug parasound amps and Polk speakers would heartily reccommend them. (Well ok, they sound awesome with any speakers)
I want to get my ears on the earthquake stuff soon though...
