Here is a link comparing the 2 models. The specification look exactly the same but yet the TC are twice as much (price listed is for single vs. pair). I would expect the TC to be a better speaker, but why? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

TC series are a better quality speaker.

Not a dumb question at all, but check out this page, and read the descriptions Polk gives for each....They are actually quite different.

Better tweeter, better midrange driver. The specs don't mean that much beyond a very general overview of a speaker.

It would sort of be like comparing a Honda Accord and a BMW. Both have 4 doors, 4 wheels, AC, and antilock breaks, but one costs twice as much...

The TC and RC have the same "named" parts and specs, but the quality (and sound) are different.

I figured the range and senitivity would be better on the "better" speaker, but I guess not.

To continue this thought. What would be recommended for HT and low music use. 8' RC vs 6' TC? Difference between TC60I and TC620I?

And why are the SC for the "installing pro"? Are they not available to consumer?

While I'm at it, could a TC be a center channel or would I need an LSI for the center?

The SC series has very similar characteristics to the TC series, but they are only available through custom installers, or some specialty shops that offer custom installation. As far as I'm aware, they aren't available online.
