I'm gonna give a listen a little later, I'll be comparing it to the SACD.

I cannot compare the LP to the SACD. My SACD player cost less than the isolation cones and pods on my analog front ends thus it wouldn't be a fair comparison.

This record floored me. I had only heard this recording on CD & SACD and although it sounded great then, I wasn't floored.

The first thing I noticed when I started spinning this quiet hunk of vinyl was how wide open it sounded. The sound stage was as wide, wider actually than the walls that the speakers are on. This sounded like a live performance recorded in a music hall. After reading the record jacket I was surprised to learn that it was in fact a studio recording. The more I listened the more the sound of the bass, the strings vibrating on the neck, brought me back to the days when my parents brought me to gigs and jam sessions.

The sibilance of her voice was breathtaking. The depth of soundstage was stagering especially in on the last three cuts on the first side.

I had been listening to Led Zepplin CDs all week and this is the first LP this week and I must say there were no speakers in the room just Norah and her band.

This is an excellent vinyl offering and I give it five stars for sonics, five stars for performance, and five stars to the engineer and mixer!!!

I listened to the SACD for one track. I am going to F1nut's place soon and will get an ear on a real SACD player doing this recording.

I'm going back to listen to it again!

Yeah well, I just had my ears flushed the other day and I've got this constant ringing in them now, which only gets worse when I try to listen to music. I don't know how much listening we're going to be doing here.

Well after about 5 months:eek: , mine arrived today. I gave it a listen to one side, and was very pleased. I used the Clamp with my vintage analog setup (Marantz table and components, Audio-Technica cartridge and the Carver AL-III's). I was extremely pleased!:D Dead quiet, smooth vocals and deep tight bass. The biggest difference that I noticed over the SACD was the bass. There were other differences, but the bas was the most noticeable. The SACD was a little more detailed, and not quite as smooth as the vinyl. Also, Norah's voice and singing image were larger on vinyl. Which do I like better? I like them both LOL! Give it a listen for yourself and give us your thoughts. Scompracer has one on the way;)

Why does one get ones ears flushed? Why would that make your ears ring? Its not tinitus (sp) is it? Good luck on the problem, I hope it gets better.

I get ringing sometimes. My ear doctor said to flush some peroxide in there every so often.

Lots of times the build up in the ears gets so thick without one knowing it that it is like being welded onto the inner canal. Flushing them with a flushing mixture loosens the gunk and exposes new or tender skin. Because the inner ear is so tender that any kind of "trauma" (poor choice of words but accurate) to that part of the ear will cause ringing and that echoy like sound. It's like taking a quick slap to the ear.

I know this from years of experience with having an ear problem since childhood.

Be careful, peroxide has a tendancy to dry the inner ear canal skin and cause scaling. There is ear flushing fluid available in any of the drug stores like CVS or Walgreen's.

I've got a really sweet case tinitus....:(

I have to have some kind of background noise going at all times otherwise I go crazier than I already am...;)

Going to bars/clubs makes for one hell of a night, my ears ring like a mofo all night and sometimes into the next morning...That's what working in aviation does to you I guess....
