its been bothering me for some reason lol how many here still use minidisc players? or have until recently. i personally have a portable Sony MZ-R37 which i suppose would be considered archaic by todays standards but its built like a tank and i refuse to give it up lol it just does an awesome job of driving a set of headphones without distortion (kicks his $100 dollar portable cd player that distorts around volume level 5) also what do you still use a portable or a component deck?

Um, no. Gave that up about 7 or 8 years ago hehe.

I think I gave it up a year after it came out. I didn't feel like recording everything over to something else. I'm just not a person that likes to record stuff. Maybe that's why I don't want to spend the endless hours updating music on a PC just to have to figure out what to play on an iPod! (which I don't own either). I just like albums and CD's myself!
It was a neat format but it was destined for doom in a CD world at that time.

Have a standalone player and it broke within a week, I never felt the need to replace it.

I have never used it. But I'm currently considering using it to start recording live shows, so I can share them at eTree (http://www.etree.org/).

in regards to recording stuff make sure you it'll allow transfer from the player back to the computer and has a powered mic input (sony got very cheap and took the mic/line/optical input out on some models) but the format was really great when i was in ninth grade i bought my first one NZ 505 i believe , everyone at school loved it

hmm a digital recording format that sounds pretty good, not reference but good. I use mine to record via digital out on the DTV receiver and have music specials and such.

Ive had two mini disc players .... one about 6-7 years ago. The end of its life saw an 80 lb dumbell fall on it as I was placing it on my lap for incline dumbell press and it happened the player happened to be in my pocket centered rather than off to the side. I bought a second one shortly after and still use it to this day at the gym however I dont record anymore and am stuck playing the same songs over and over. Dont really feel like getting anything else at this time as I am not big into the digital music ripping and burning etc.
Its a neat little format but has gone the way of other sony formats (UMD, etc).
