Great show! I highly recommend their two most recent albums Alligator and Boxer...and if you have a chance, see 'em live! Good music man!

Bump.
Anybody listening to this band? ZB? Demi?
Those of you saying there's no good music these days, look no further.

Eeek! I think you may have stumped the peanut gallery with this one. The "peanut gallery" being "me". I'll definitely give 'em a shot...
btw You never answered me if you had heard of a band from your neck of the woods called The Tallest.

Never heard of the Tallest, but I dig 'em!

Any word on when/where they're playing?

Nope.. but I'll give 'em a call. Atom Plasma and Johnny Xybot were two of my best friends from high school:D
Check the band bio for a few "zombie boy 2000" sightings:) The extended, detailed, comprehensive history at the bottom of the bio page.

That's cool. Please do let me know if they're playing in Chicago soon.
By the way, thought of you when I read this review that implies My Morning Jacket is one of the greatest bands of their generation. You know those guys too, right?

Sho do...
actually just Jim James from his high school band Month of Sundays. The Tallest (at that time known as Blue Rice Military Warehouse and with me in tow) would practice over at his house in his garage.
Last time I saw Senor James was at a record release party abouth a month ago for a MonthOS... demo that had been sitting in the vaults for about 10 years. He DJ'd afterward with Craig Pfunder from VHS or Beta and a drunken', debaucherous time was had by all on the dancefloor...
As for The Tallest, they play Chicago all the time beings they're from there.
Now I'll go snag a The National cd. Thanks for the heads-up..

Yessir.
Also thinking about the Pitchfork Festival July 13-15, but not sure if I can make it (law school finals and getting married the next weekend...yikes). I'd at least like to see Sonic Youth perform Daydream Nation on Friday night.

Congrats on both career and marriage! The wife has a law degree, as well. I have nothing but respect to anyone that can endure that trial by fire.
If you have never seen Sonic Youth live, make it at the top of your priority list. Just to hear and watch Thurston Moore drown the place in wave upon wave of delicious and nutritious feedback. They're a stellar live band.
Gotta a chance to see 'em with Paul Westerburg, Patti Smith and the Polyphonic Spree (yeah, yeah, I know....).

Good post about The National. I've been listening to both the albums the last month. He probably has a love or hate voice, but I like it. Is it just me, or this also an above-average drummer?
He's the Crash Test Dummies higher-pitched brother. ;)

Thanks ZB.
Dylan: Great to hear you've been listening to these guys. I'm really into them right now. Yeah, some might not like Berninger's baritone voice, but I sure do. With regard to the drummer, I think they're all damn good musicians...classically trained, if I'm not mistaken.

Baritone, that's the word I couldn't remember. I just think "crash test dummies or leonard cohen'ish" when I hear baritone.
Congratulations too, I missed the marriage part. Don't sweat the ceremony, it will be a nervous blur and you won't remember a second of it when its done. And carry a flask.
Keep the suggestions coming, looks like we have real similar tastes. I have 2 hours a day in the car, so new music is important!

I hate how you can't post videos in this forum. You can in the Clubhouse, but not here, where Music Videos and Movie Trailers would go.
Oh, and I never listened to this band before. Not bad.
I'll go out on a limb, I have loved Clinic for a long time...anyone else? ;)
They're a very weird band, bu they're fantastic.
