Watched this last night.. because I had heard what a great job Forest Whitaker does portraying Idi Amin in this movie. Boy does he deliver the goods too. I can see why he won best actor for this role.
pretty good movie, esp for his acting and the supporting actor guy is good as well. Pretty violent though.. so not a kids movie by any means.

I received this in the mail today from Netflix. So I'll give it a spin tonight. Forest Whitaker seems to be a far cry from the Idi Amin portrayed by Chris Rock on SNL.

I really liked this movie, as always Forest Wittaker was awesome. I was young when this happened, it was very interesting to get the details/history on what went down.

I saw it. It was OK. Certainly not an oscar winning performance, IMO.
I don't like when an era of history is made into a purely fictional movie with pieces of fact thrown in.

Watched this last night. Excellent movie and certainly an engaging performance by Forest Whitaker. Oscar-worthy or not, I felt I couldn't really take my eyes off of him when he was on screen.
Early -- just out of curiosity... what movies have you liked of late? It seems that you have hit somewhat of a losing streak. Any recommendations?

Hey Zombie,
"Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" is on its way to you. I know that you have been begging me to send this to you for a while....:D

but I think I explicitly asked for The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. I can see how you might make that mistake.

I'll admit, I'm kinda hard on movies. Lately, they've pretty much sucked, with one notable exception -- Pan's Labyrinth.

That's cool...
I really enjoyed Pan's Labyrinth as well. I suppose it's kind of cool to hear some negative reviews. Usually people cheerlead whatever was last consumed.
As for King of Scotland, you have me wanting to read up on the actual events. I was definitely struck by the numberous "coincidences" and obvious Hollywood treatment of much of the plot.
I still enjoyed it immensely, but I always seem to enjoy a film that can take me to a place I've never been or seen (even on screen).

OK, but you're gonna have to wade through a bunch of BS. Amin was definitely a fruitcake with pauly walnuts sprinkled on top, but a lot of what was said about him was propaganda, so take what you read with a grain of salt.
