What are your guys thoughts of using (2) 4 Gauge Wires instead of a single 1/0 gauge wire? Same power transfer or no?

Two runs of 4 Gauge is plenty large enough. Unless you are supplying power to the whole entire city block 4 gauge will be more than acceptable. What is the maximum current draw for the amplifiers? How many do you plan to install?
If you look at the wiring inside the car, they do not use anything much larger than 8 gauge and this feeds the starter!!
1 gauge is too hard to work with plus
the connectors are more expensive.

Happy Wiring!!

Thank you for the feedback,
The MTX thunder 1000d has a direct 1/0 input and I want to make sure this amp gets all the power it is intended to. It will be mucheasier for me to run (2) 4 gauge than a single 1/0 because of the space limitations of the vehicle - i then intend to use a distribution block to combine the 2 4 gauge into a single 1/0 . I just wondered if the properties of the power will change.

Thanks

two runs of 4 gauge wire will be close but not exactly 0 gauge.

monster cable 4 gauge ( i know thats what u CC guys sell ) doubled up will give you almost 0 gauge, more like something between 2 and 0... and mtx states teh 81000d can run off 2 gauge happily.

streetwires or any other American Wire Gauge sized wire (awg) will only add up to 2 gauge from 2 lines of 4... that monster cable is a little thicker.

just be sure u have a fuse on each line and you should be fine.

i would use 1 fuse block at the front and run both off if them and run 0 guage from the battery to the fuseblock and from there i would run the 2 4 guage runs

I've seen some 1awg welding cable cheap in the business/industrial section of E-bay. Hhmmmm?
