Are there any wireless speakers that will work for side surrounds for a 7.1 system? There are some blu-rays coming out now that has 7.1 and would like to complete my speaker setup. But I cannot setup up the side speakers without running speaker wires across the floor. This will not pass WAF.

My signature shows what I have now.

You can buy the flat wire and run it around the perimeter, up and over entry ways, see if you can use the base trim boards to hide it a bit, if you have crown molding you can it behind those. Just depends how much work you want to put into it.

Have fun and enjoy.

samsung has a wireless surround system (i saw it at sams club yesterday), so it is definitely possible... quite a bit less hi-fi than your RTi8's, i would guess. a good friend/former housemate had a pair of wireless speakers some time ago (pretty sure they were AR)... nothing to wow you, but they performed reasonably well... i think they were IR, though, so line-of-sight will be important, just like your remotes. there is technology that uses your house wiring to transmit as well, but i am not sure who makes what, or if the sq is anything above "works"...

cant you go through the attic or basement/crawl?

Keep in mind that wireless speakers aren't really wireless....they still have a power cord attached to them that you need to plug into the wall.

And it needs to be a thick/cool looking power cord if you want great sound.

If you have carpet in the room, try to see if you could push the wire in under the base edge of the base moulding. It might take a little bit of effort, but once you get it started, it goes in a lot easier. I just did this in our downstairs, where we have carpet stretched over slab concrete. It might even work with a "floating" style hardwood or pergo floor, as that (may) have a spongy pad under it that would allow some 'give'.
