Have you come across a recording that just knocked your socks off. Meaning the recording was just unreal quality?

"Carver's Amazing Byte's" GRP Records Z-9907, 1988.
It's the only recording I have that allows my volume control to
safely reach the one o'clock position. Great percussion's and
the strings sound like they are going to bust in the musician's
fingers. I't's out of production but I have an original and had my son copy it to another CD. I can tell no difference in the
copied CD. Be glad to send you a copy N/C. It's a killer at volume.

This recording is not music but a test. From the Best of Chesky Jazz and More Audiophile Tests / Vol. 2 is a track that will make most people open their eyes and look around. It is track 47: General Image and Resolution Test, it is just 1 minute and 31 seconds long but it makes a great Demo.
As far as music goes, I will usually reach for a CD called The Guitar Trio by Paco De Lucia, Al Di Meola and John McLanghlin, it's a wonderful recording from beginning to end but track 2, Beyond The Mirage just sounds right.

Any CD from Mapleshade is sonically superior to most redbook CDs.

I typically use Dire Straits BIA. I don't care for the song Money for Nothing, but it is a very well recorded dynamic song. I also use Fleetwood Mac's Tell Me Lies. That song really shows off SDA's. Also Allison Krause live at union station. That CD has a lot of very clear vocals that will really show off the quality of your tweeters.

Norah Jones CD's are very well recorded, as are Tori Amos. I use Tool cd's as they are very layered and complex. A Krell dealer nearby that had an $8000 Krell amp hooked up to PMC OB1 speakers ($5500) told me that Tool is the ultimate speaker test.
