Low/High Range Terminal on Monitor 40

I recently purchased the Polk Monitor 40 speakers. There are two sets of terminals (top and bottom) and I'm wondering if anyone knows which is for low range (woofer) and which is the high range (tweeter). I'm going to bi-amp using an Onkyo 605. My Surr Rear terminal posts will connect to the 40s' woofer terminal. Thanks!

you are correct. Don't forget to remove the jumper when bi-amping. Have fun.

why not?

i mean, i understand and even agree with the point i think you are making, but (to use analogies) it could be the headers and 750 cfm holley that will wake that chevy nova right up... or, it could be the chrome air filter cover that looks neat, but mostly is just hard to keep clean. certainly no harm in it, and polk put the terminals there for a reason, no?

sometimes it is the "whole = sum of parts" sort of thing... FWIW

I would run it on small...They aren't large speakers really, just bigger bookshelves. Sometimes auto settings are a little screwy...My Sunfire did some weird shit when I let it go auto...you ay have to fiddle with your settings for couple of days, maybe a week, in order to get the best sound from your setup...Believe me, it can be frustrating, but it is totally worth it at the end of the day...

i never was a big fan of doing the auto set ups on receivers... from my experience they normally do not do that great of a job, at least compared to what can be done with yoursself manually with an spl meter some basic knowledge of sound and alot of patience :)

Any way maybe i missed it but you are going to by amp using your rear speaker terminals, do you not have rear speakers?

i tried bi-amping with rear speaker terminal but didn't hear much of a difference so i'm sticking to normal wiring

Setting it to small lets the sub do the work it was meant to.

I think yes, compared to the highs and mids the lower range frequencies require a lot of power from the amp, setting your speakers as small will make the mids and highs shine. the system's overall volume, clarity and detailing should improve.
