I have three dates this month that I can open my home to the "Five Staters." That's as good a name as any for us, no?
Sunday July 8th, Mike (Msalla) might be coming down. Even if he can't, the house is open;
Sunday July 15th, the house is open; and,
Saturday July 21th, the house is open.
Here is the list of folks that I am aware of that we've discussed coming on down or over!

If I missed you please don't be shy and add your name to the list. I speak to so many Polkies that I've lost track of who's in our area. Pick a date, any of the three are good. If you can't make one date pick another. It doesn't matter to me if one guy can show up one date and 5 guys another and two on another. It's all open.
Mike, Msalla is going to let me know if he can make it Sunday July 8th. Ben is going to be in Connecticut from July 8th to July 17th. IF you North Jersey and NY guys can hook up with him and bring him along that would be great. If Mike is going to come the 8th, then maybe he can hook up with Billy, Phil or Anty.
Let's get this ball rolling. Hopefully I'll have my new BBQ here in time for a good cook out!.
I'm sending PMs and emails to you all.
Again if I missed you I apologize:o :p , please don't be shy and let me know.:)

You had to mention food. These people down here can't cook to save their lives. You had to mention food. Did I just say that again. It's like putting M&Ms at the checkout counter. They don't stand a chance!
The 15th works best for me.

I'll let you know for sure when I know for sure that I know for sure.

I apologize, but I'm probably going to miss all the dates. I'm traveling a lot this month and I just don't have a lot of time to spare. I promise to visit you before the snow flies. After all, you're only about 260 miles across the state of PA and down into Dover. Probably about a 4 1/2 - 5 hour trip depending on construction and traffic.
I want to hear that vinyl rig of yours. Good luck on you Summer mini Polk Fests!

WOW!!! The day started off with Dave (Fireman32), Lou (Ohskigod), & Sal (Lasareath) dropping by my place for a short visit to hear a few tunes on my system before heading to Joe's. Anty (Amulford) was making a sausage run and came a bit later. I must say Joe's wife Phyllisann is such a gracious host & an angel to put up with the likes of us. Her meatballs & sausage along with Anty's sausage's were just simply out of this world. The desserts weren't too bad either. Actually they were damn good.
Joe is just so proud of his rig & I must say rightfully so. Listening to vinyl most of the day was a very enlightening experience, especially from a CD guy like myself. I have to say I was very impressed with the way Joe's vinyl sounded. Enough to make a convert out of me...well that's a story for another day. Hmmmmm...maybe, you just never know.
It was really nice that Michael (MSALLA) & his wife stopped by for a short visit also. The time just flew by & before you knew it, it was after 10:00. Time to head on home. It trully was a great day spent with fabulous people that I have met thru the Polk forum. I can't wait to meet more of you. By far the best forum in audio!!!!
I pulled this from Phil's thread. . .

the long drive was a bitch, but it was worth it. just a cool day with a bunch of cool polkies. Arrived at Phil's first (Pearsall) for some fun with the ADS. met Phil, Lazarus (Sal, aka redwood, aka Clydesdale......I'll explain later) and the largest f*cking rottwieller I ever laid eyes on. 150 lbs of fuzzy loving pooch though, Phil's other dog was cool too.
Phil's ADS's looked, well small and cute, but DAMN they sounded big. Made the detour to Phil's worth the effort. Definitely shot to the top of the coolest bookies I ever laid ears on.
Then on our way to Joe's, thats when I saw the 6'5" tree that is Sal get into a Hyundai Elantra. I swear you could hear that car cry, and this from a guy wedging his fat ass into a Volvo S40 :D
anyhoo
Over to Joe's for tunes and food. First there was kick @ss meatballs and sausage from the lovely Phyllisann, then Anthony arrived to cook.....well....more sausage. When it comes to sausage, Anthony has a gift (yes...that sentence sounds wrong, and I am secure enough in my manhood to admit it, but I digress). I'll give the sausage edge, barely, to Anthony, but Phyllisann's sauce was kick ass, this coming from an Italian who has tasted great sauce. It should be noted that Anthony cribbed her Sauce to make his sausage and peppers, for good reason :)
MSalla (mike) then arrived for like 5 minutes, enough time for us to meet him, watch him drop off his offering to the vinyl gods (100 records gift to Joe), also meet his wife (who one of us, I wont say who, thought was his daughter LOL)
Sal brought what seemed to be 20" Apple pie, that frikken thing didnt have a chance. Me and Joe housed what seemed to be over half, the most of the rest seemed to be gone.
I'll concur with the rest of the gang, Joe's rig, especially the vinyl, sounds TIGHT!!!! Significant improvement over the last time I was there. What I considered to be a mild to moderate brightness last time disappeared this time around.
a bunch of us took pics, I'm sure they'll surface over the next 24 hours.
long story short, great time + great people = what you expect from a Polk gathering.

Well it's 11:55 and Antny just left.
It was great!!! Phyllisann made the meatballs and sausage in gravy, Antny made sauseeech and peppers, Phil the Italian rolls and foot cheese, and Sal brought this huge apple pie and just as big a strawberry cheese cake and I can't see my feet!!! This is was such a fun day, eating, BSing everything audio, listening to all kinds of music and just enjoying good friends.
MSALLA (Mike) stopped over with his lovely wife Bernadette just to drop off a couple of hundred LPs!!! He drove all the way here to Newark from Drexel Hill just to drop off the records!!! I had to twist his arm for he and B. to sit and have something to eat and BS a little.
My mother in-law Joey, and my nephews were on hand to enjoy the festivities. . . as well as Moose!
Man I can wait till the rest of you Polkies in this area decide to come on over. . . July 21st is the next get together so start the planning!
Pictures speak 1000 words and right now I'm beat so I'm just gonna post some pics for now.

I need to confess, joe pulled me to the side and told me that the reason everything sounded so awesome is that he bought this stuffed duck from this site http://www.machinadynamica.com/ and it has made his bass tighter, made everything sound so mellow, no screaming highs, Damn! I gotta get one of these ducks!

No, NO! You have it all wrong. . .Phil and I discovered that if we place our new invention, THE DUCK on top of any speaker system it improves bass response down into the single digit hz. It also causes a smoothing out of the high frequencies ruined by ****ty old and worn out Mexican capacitors and resistors in an old fashioned crossover. By this action alone the inner detail and subtle nuances of the music come to life and really get your mojo up!
Dont' wait, pre-order your new, "THE DUCK" and be the first on your block to experience this technological wonder!!!

Ok some more thoughts now that im awake. First off thanks to Joe and Phyllisann for being great hosts. Even though my acid reflux was killing me I still ate well. Joe's vinyl rig is a setup I hope to achieve someday.
I could not ask for a nicer group of people to hang out with all day. The banter between Joe and Phil on the vinyl vs Cd debate was priceless to listen to. Anthony it was good seeing you again bud and Sal and Mike it was great to meet you.
I am planning to come on the 21st as well and hopefully it will be as fun as yesterday was.

I'm already thinking about upgrading the tone arm. I need to really get inside the music, not just hear it. I figure I'll be happy with one in the 5k range, you know what this vinyl stuff does to you!!! I figure for every thousand you spend on upgrades it might just get you one less snap, crackle, pop or hiss!! LOL!! For a really black background I figure I'll have to remortgage the house. But of so worth it!!

I am still many years away from any serious vinyl rig but it is certainly cool to hear vinyl again.
