I have a few pairs of DX3000 tweeters from the DX3065 sets I purchased for my Oddysey. Does anyone know how to add the the in-line crossover (4.8kHz, 12dB/octave)? I want to use the factory wires and not have to take the whole dash apart.

Thanks for everyones help.

James,
The DX3000 tweeter crossover frequency is 3800 Hertz with a 12dB per octave slope when supplied with the component system. To construct this high pass crossover you will need the following parts;

1) - 2.5 Ohm 5 Watt Power resistor.
1) - 5.8 Microfard non polarized or Mylar film 50 Volt capacitor
1) - 0.25 Millihenrie air core inductor
1) - 5.5 Ohm 5 Watt power resistor

The positive input is fed through the 2.5 Ohm resistor, and then is connected to the 5.8 microfarad cap. Then take the 0.25 milllihenrie inductor and connect one end to the output positive lead from the cap and connect the other lead inductor to the negative lead of the speaker wire. You will then need to install a 5.5 Ohm load after the inductor on the positive lead just before the positive lead of the tweeter. This is a -3 dB attenuation resistor. Without this resistor the tweeters will play too loud and it will be hard to get them to balance with the rest of the system. Remember this is for a single pair of 4 Ohm tweeters. This will not work with two tweeters wire in parallel presenting a 2 Ohm load to the amplifier. This is a 4 Ohm high pass filter. The component values change with the impedance. I would recommend only using one pair with this network. If you need a copy of the schematic, give us a call at 800-377-7655 between the hours of 9 am to 6 pm Eastern time and we will be glad to fax them to you.

Thanks,
Kim
