It's a lot better now man. I first used Linux around 97 with Slack 1.2 - and it was a big pain in the ass, but since then there have been trmendous changes in everything from the kernel to the interface and install. It's almost as easy as a Mac or Windows these days. What was the last distro of Red Hat that you used?

It's still easy to eff up though, and it probably always will be because everything is so accesable. I'm lookin for a Mac with OSX right now. :)

RH like 7.2, and I've tried Mandrake 8.2.

Yea, it installs fine and stuff, no prob there. But I swear to you, I've gone into XWin and launched a program, and it crashed. No shit, and that was recent ;) hehehe

oh I'd avoid redhat/mandrake. for newbies go with SuSE. The last distro I've installed at home was SuSE 6.4. I just upgrade stuff & the kernel to stay current :) I started in 95 on slackware, back when it was really hard to get setup. At work I use Solaris 8 w/ Gnome
