Hello.. heres the setup of my car...

Alpine CDA 7894 Headunit
2 Rockford 500.2 Amps ---- 500 Watts @ 4 Ohmns
2 Polk Momo 10'' Subs ---- Each sub gets 500 watts @ 4 Ohmns
1 Sealed Box

I was wondering if switching over to a Bandpass box would greatly increase the sound coming from the subs?? Is it worth my money to switch?

IMO...to get a Bandpass right and sound good..is not worth the money or the trouble. It will be louder at what freq you tune it at and sound like junk the rest off the time. If you want louder...look at a ported/vented box. With this you can increase your spl..but maintain some SQ. Food for thought (not a fan of bandpass boxes at all)

from what i understand theres kind of an equation with momos...
ported box+momo subs=blown subs
maybe im wrong...

One thing that everyone needs to understand is when you are using a high mass cone you need to control the excessive cone movement without damaging the driver's suspension. Ported enclosures do not control excessive cone movement. The MM120 and MM100 used one of the higher mass cone and the most rigid cones in the industry. These subs will always perform to their full potential when they are installed into a sealed or 4th order band pass enclosure.
You need the vacuum of the sealed chamber to control the cone and limit the amount of cone and suspension travel while reducing the amount of stress that is applied to the suspension when you are cranking the system. Another way to help prevent excessive supension stress is to you a subsonic filter and set it to 30 Hertz and limit the amount of equalization applied at lower bass frequencies.
Our new MOMO MM124 uses a ABS cone material which is lower in mass plus we are using a new spider which allow for greater cone excursion. We will keep everyone posted on new enclosure designs so stay tuned...

P.S. I am attaching plans for a iso push pull MM100 band pass enclosure. Build it... and you will like it !!! If you have any questions about this enclosure call us at 800-377-7655 between the hours of 9 am to 6 pm Eastern time.

Happy Building!!

My only issue with band pass sub enclosures is just that.. they really only pass/accent the tunned freq. For spl this may be great- though I never thought of MOMO as an SPL sub... I would expect better results from a vented box tuned to 29hz with the use of a subsonic filter...otherwise you just have a JL sub..a one note wonder...

JL sucks, JL sucks, JL sucks, JL sucks... amen.

Ladies and gentlemen we are gathered here today to celebrate the fact that on this day... many many moons ago, it was determinted that JL sucks.

the end.

go in peace to do anything but buy a W7.

I'd rather run 20 RoadGear Walmart 6x9's off a Jensen amp than a W7 ...
