A friend.. honestly, it wasn't me... and he's even an IT guy to boot.. totally hosed our home computer earlier this week. I ended up having to run HP's recovery system.

The computer is back to life, but I'm getting an error that says the system can't find am18.dll . I've searched... I can find references to the "Audio Man" file.... I can find plenty of driver recovery/fix-it programs to BUY... but I figured I could find SOMETHING on this error, and how to fix it. I didn't even get a hit of any kind at Microsoft's site.

So, I'm looking for some help. Do I need this file? If so, how do I get it? If NOT, how do I stop this error from popping up?

Thanks.
Mark

Not sure if you need it, but try :
- Go to "Start->Run"
- type "MSCONFIG"
- Go to the startup tab
- See if "Audio Man" or "MS Audio Man" is in there, and uncheck it
- Restart and see if it fixes your problem (if it doesn't, or makes things worse, you can just put it back)

I don't know if you need it or not, but there are several places to download it from;
http://www.google.com/search?as_q=+download&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=HwQ&num=10&btnG=Google+Search&as_epq=am18+dll+&as_oq=&as_eq=&lr=lang_en&as_ft=i&as_filetype=&as_qdr=all&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&as_occt=any&as_dt=i&as_sitesearch=&as_rights=&safe=images
