See attached.
So... there's a replacement for this that's readily available?
Thanks, y'all!

Yes, replacement is RDO194 and well worth it.

Will make a world of difference. Much smoother, no fatigue and no more +5dB spike at about 13kHz. CP members get a discount plus free 2 day shipping.

You just don't want to admit those RDO do sound a lot better.

A few more years towards the grave and you boys will WANT that +5db spike at 13,000 cycles.

Not that BAD, but if your asking about a replacement tweeter I'm just telling you what it does. It is goign to make a noticeable difference and for me personally it was an improvement over stock. The 5b with the sl2000 is still a nice speaker, you can't go wrong.

I have never had a problem with the SL2000 tweeter in my 8T's.
I can listen to music for hours on end at loud or soft volumes & not have a headache.
I have never heard any annoying over pronounced SSSSSSSS or any other kinds of siblance that drives me crazy.
I have NO idea what you guys are talking about.
All I can figure is that men & women hear things differently.

In this case though the sl2000 is broken. It has been mentioned in several reviews of the day the characterictic of the sl2000. That's why Polk addressed the issue and made the TL series with the sl2500 and sl3000.
There are many here like Cathy that have no issue with the sl2000 as your source moves up the chain IMO, it gets worse.

I haven't had a chance to listen to them, but I shall.
It is interesting that a woman would report no problem with the tweeter... generally women have more extended HF hearing then men of the same age, and IME women are more sensitive to sibilance and HF resonances than men.

how so? The amusement is too subtle for me.

RDO are very well thought of so it's like a broken record when someone ask about tweeter replacement we recommend RDO then give each other **** about it.

It got into the male / female thing. . . I found that amusing. I really didn't know that woman can hear higher frequencies or tolerate them better than men. Plus George's feedback is always good for a belly laugh or two.

I was simply too lazy to search for info on the replacement/upgrade tweeter.
Now, after 29 years as a Polk Audio speaker owner, I have to figure out how to join "Club Polk" and order replacement drivers! :-)
thanks, y'all...

untill you've heard SRS's with 8 SL2000 tweeters you don't know how bad it can be. seriously, i would get a headache after 30 to 40 minutes of low level listening.
I never understood why either.. till i read about the spike in the SL2000, then it all made sense. Once i swapped out the tweeters it was great.
