integra 5.6 computer hookup

Hello people,
I have an integra 5.6 receiver that I has a serial port on the back that can be hooked up to a computer unless I am mistaken. I want to be able to program the receiver via the computer remotely. I have a htpc sitting right next to the computer.
anybody done this and give me a shove in the right direction.

New to me, I always thought that the serial port was used to do firmware upgrades or with certain remote systems like elan.

its called a regular serial port and a computer has one of those. so if you figure out the correct pin combination then you can have it hooked up to ure PC at least thats what i think

here this is what you need.

the serial part will go to the receiver, the lan connection will go to your lan port in your computer, you will need a "telnet" like program to connect via serial and you should be in business.

ok I found out what you need. its a straight through serial cable that goes from the back of ure computer(serial COM port) over to the rs232 port on the integra. then you need to find all the commands that can be run over that port and you either use a telnet program to send the commands one by one or you can find some software that can do that for you.
